There is so much I don't know (understand?) about vaping. I was simply looking for a bigger battery and found loads of other bits and I'm totally confused...lol

Basically, if I'm looking to replace the starter kit I have now, it would be for something which looks neat and doesn't need charging every day!
 
Is there anything I should be aware of moving from a pen style to one of these? Would the experience be any different?

A little knowledge about battery safety is a very good idea .

You need an additional battery and the battery may last you a day but it unlikely.

If your moving from an ego/pen type setup, I would recommend not jumping straight to a subtank.. I've actually seen and touched on of them kanger mods over the weekend and they look and feel rubbish, they are made so that they can sell more subtanks, and sell more coil heads. Granted that the subtank is quite good and doing what it does but there's serval other tanks that can do the same.

Have a look at the first post on this thread, there's some recommentions on there.. But your jumping from one extreme to another the other.
 
To add to slinxys' post...

The battery will just about last a day if vaping below 25w, based on a 2500mah LG. it does have its own charging circuit with micro usb, so if you need a little top up that's an option, but general rule of thumb is you're safest to use a standalone charger.

The subtank isn't ideal to jump straight in to, it does now, however, come with a 1.5 (or is it 1.2?) Ohm coil head, I'd suggest trying this first and tightening up the airflow before playing with the sub ohm stuff.

And yes, the mod in the subox kit is cheap and basic, but, it serves a purpose, it lacks anything remotely considered a feature set but is rugged, I've dropped mine a few times, few chips out of the paint but that's all, still works fine.
 
Thanks for your comments :) I'll do some reading and may get an additional battery in the mean time. Finding a battery with a micro USB would be helpful as I can still use it while its charging.
 
Had a little read of the op as I haven't a clue about vaping and I don't smoke. Im reading this because my brother (18) has started vaping. He doesn't smoke as far as I know. But has taken to vaping, which im a little worried about.
Like I said I read the op and apparently we don't know if its safe or not:eek: How is this stuff getting sold?
Whats in it, is there tobacco, and anything else I should be concerned about?

Was bound to happen at some point. You can get non-nicotine liquids and will be seen as "trend" like smoking is/was.
 
Nictotine, pg, vg and flavourings, minus the nic if it's zero nic juice.

If he's on nicotine juice give him a slap, absolutely no need to take up an addictive habit because it no doubt it appears 'cool' to the youth of today.

Nothing in this world is safe, if you believe everything in the papers tying your shoelaces gives you cancer :p vaping has its hazards, but up against analogue cigs they're on a whole other world safer.

There's no tobacco in E-Liquid but depending on the liquid there is pharmaceutical grade Nicotine. To what degree depends on what he's being a strength varies from 0mg/ml Nicotine upto around 18mg/ml

As far as safety its still a bit of an unknown. Safer than smoking? Yes. But risk free no.

There's steps we can take to reduce the risk/harmful chemicals. The main risk at the moment is E-Liquids that contain a chemical group called Diketones, and most of the manufactures are being pushed and getting a lot of negative press when they're found go contain these chemicals.

A lot of us who DIY our liquids specifically set out to mix knowing none of our flavouring contain these

I would suggest getting an istick 30w or 40w with tc... not the best in the world but it will double your battery life and be ready for if/when you do want to sub-ohm.

pen style ones, itaste vv v4 will do the trick, again not the best but will do the trick, but it's not suitable for subohming.

IF you want an all singing and dancing mod, vapor-z has the solar dna40 for £65 at the moment. This was considered a high end device.
