Wow! Guys, I just had an awesome time at UK Ecigstore. Where do I start. Well firstly, the shop was extremely busy, it was like a vapefest. Great atmosphere. First thing that hit me as I walked in was the fog. :D

That guy on the far left in front of the red tray fixed my RBA! He spent some time with it and said he'd sanded down the end of the 510 pin on the AFC part of the subtank because it looked a bit rough. I still don't know how that got it working and I see no evidence of sanding down, but it's working anyway! A consistent 0.6 ohms. I offered him some money but he declined. Very nice chap! Those are all my subtank bits, juice and IGO-W at this end of the table.

Here's some vaping porn pics for a sunday evening. :) These guys were blowing vape rings and others were catching them on the fly and sucking them in through their nose. :D

I got talking to the guy on the left with the specs and beard. He doesn't work there but hangs out there a lot apparently. He was very helpful and friendly. He was using a snowwolf 200w mod and a Smok tank. I had some toots on his and my god it was hot, nearly burnt me. He was vaping at well over 100w, some sort of lemonade juice. He taught me how to to direct lung hits. Yes, after two years of vaping, I didn't know how to do it. now I understand how people get such massive clouds. I'm ashamed to say it got me interested in cloud chasing, lol. Well, a little. He borrowed someones mech mod with a sub ohm dual coil and we tooted on that. Never realised how heavy those things are. I ended up buying the same model Smok he was using, the TFV4, £28.99. The pre made quad coil is 0.1 ohms and doesn't work on my mod, but the triple coil at 0.2 does. So the salesperson offered to give me a second triple coil and I gave him the quad out of the box. I'll be building the RBA anyway, but might as well use the stock coils first.

It's a beautiful bit of kit and vapes great. Four airflow control holes on the drip tip (can still use other tips) plus airflow control on the base also with 4 holes.

I don't get though why this 0.2 ohm coil only goes to 3.4v at my mods max 50w. Is that how it should be? The 0.6 ohm coil of the subtank is 5.4v at 50w.

Here's pics of it. :)

Nice one Merlin5, looks like you had a great time!

Whilst i have been enjoying my Lemo 2 I am starting to want to go back to premade coil tanks for simplicity and I have been looking at the Melo 2 tank, has anyone here had a chance to use one and what your thoughts were? or anyother top / easy fill alternatives?

Cheers,

Brack

Welcome to the dark side Merlin. Its a slippery expensive slope from here on in.

The difference in Voltage you are seeing between the coils is due to Ohms Law.

Watts=(volts*volts)/ohms

Volts=square root of watts*ohms

Then the final and most important calculation for us is Amps which is found through either of the following

amps = volts / ohms
amps = watts / volts

Heh, well, I don't really need anything else at the moment. Got a Kayfun, IGO-W, Subtank mini and a Smok tank. All this lovely hardware but just wish I could taste juices properly. Still, I'm enjoying the novely at the moment of huge clouds :p

Thanks for the ohms law stuff. I'll have to do some research on it to understand those calculations better. So I'm vaping at max 50w at 0.2ohms at the moment. I'm wondering if 50w is enough for that low res. Anything less is weak, and at 50w it's certainly not strong. I guess it would work better on a 100w mod? Perhaps a 0.6 to 1 ohm res might be better for me.

I theory 50w is 50w no matter what the resistance of the coil. Some tanks need higher watts to perform.

I've not got a Smok TFV4 but the coils are designed for lots of power.

IIRC the triple coil (0.2ohm) is recommended for 40-130w and is regarded at its best around 60-70w so with a higher powered mod you will definately notice an improvement in flavour and vapour production.

Resistance is an okay indicator of how much power a coils needs but it largely comes down to the thickness of wire. For example you could build a single 1ohm coil out of 24awg Kanthal and 28awg and it would be a completely different vape

I was thinking of popping into the UK Ecigstore in Wembley. It's only 7 miles from me and is open till 5pm today. On street view it looks like I'd be able to park in front of the shop behind some gates, anyone confirm? Read some terrible things about them though, such as selling fake batteries. Not that I'm buying batteries, just wanted to visit them and see if they can help with my subtank mini RBA. Anyone have recent experience?

Lots of shops cropping up in London.

juiceshop.co.uk - off the north circ - for newbie to established vapers. Limited juice but a lot of spares, attys, tanks etc but no hardcore mods or bespoke mods / RDAs - Their cosmic clouds juices impressed.

Palmers green - A couple of shisha lounges that sell some bespoke juice. Walked into one that had a huge range of juices.

vapeandjuice.co.uk - Further up in Winchmore Hill - I may check this out tomorrow.

Crius turned up, threw a ss coil it, resistance all over the shop, took apart, positive post isnt even attached and the peak is broken. Waiting on response.

Ideas on a decent box mod to replace a 30w iStick? The button has gone, resulting in auto firing and now eventually no function at all.

Tank is a Nautilus Mini, doesn't need replacing.

Don't really need any features like TC, just decent battery capacity, adjustability and reliable/resilient.

Nice one. All pretty local to me.

Mid range mods - Subox mini (50W) - Comes with the subtank mini, the included OCC 0.5Ohm coil is pretty damn good but the tank is prone to leaks :/
I've temporarily slapped a cheap 0.4ohm ego one mega on it at 29W it seems ok

iPV3-Li if you're looking to go for coils < 0.4Ohm - should be bump up from all mid range box mods

Probably should have mentioned I was aiming for a similar budget, £30 - £35, so stuff that's £45 plus a battery on top isn't really of interest.

I get the impression there isn't much around that is similar, the Subox stuff looks good but the tanks are supposedly crap and we have the bullet proof Nautilus mini already.

How about a cool fire IV, similar battery to the Istick 30, so no need for an external charger and your own 18650 batteries, can charge via usb and is still rather small and light and rugged.

A side note about the D2...it was mentioned in rip trippers latest video, but its something I found out a few weeks ago. In power mode its limited to a min resistance of 0.2ohm, so occasionally you'll get a kanthal build that won't fire on it, set it to temp mode, jack the temp limit up and adjust joules accordingly and it fires just fine as the TC resistance limit is something like 0.04ohm.

Its a strange one as its big brothers (IPV4S/3Li) both fire down to 0.1 in power mode.

Love them anyhow, have the black and silver versions, perform great, take a kicking, perfect for using out and about at work.

Picked up some Scotts Custard Cream today and quite unimpressed...there's virtually no flavour, and a kind of fishy aftertaste.

How are you guys getting big wattages with your devices?, I have a 1 of the premade coils in the subtank RBA that the istick50w sees as 0.7ohms and if I go above 8 watts the juice starts to spit.
I put a 4" piece of clear plastic hose on it earlier instead of the drip tip and there was spackles of juice about 3" up the tube.
