Change of gear time for me again :o

After buying the Coolfire TC100 it died within a week of me having it so I went back to my MVP2 + Nautilus. As for the Griffin 25, it's a great tank but making coils and building the thing is such a fuss. I really want to go back to interchangeable coils for my daily vaping.
I have decided to get the Uwell Crown as it seems to fit the best of both worlds and has a lot of high praise.
Now as for a new box mod, I'm once again unsure. I'm currently leaning towards a Tesla Nano 100W steampunk, but there seems to be a bit of a thing about internal non-removable batteries charging via USB being unsafe, though I find them much more convenient. Any truth to this? It also seems I'm forever playing catchup with what the best current gear is. Bearing this in mind, any suggestions? I need something that's 100W, I won't use anything over this power really. TC is a bonus, build quality (metal casing), long battery life, reliability and safety. Also something that will do the uwell crown justice. Budget ideally no more than £70

Just got the istick pico... well impressed with the size of it, it's going to be my everyday beater to replacement of my d2 (RIP).

I'd updated the firmware on it for the new 1.01 version and it removed the classic istick display couldn't for the life of me work out how to switch it back so I just reflashed it back to v1.00.

You have made a good choice sir! I implore you to couple it with a serpent mini, you shan't be disappointed :D

Got into the nasty habit of buying a new RTA every month

Currently running a Boreas which replaced a Griffin 25, Griffin 22, Goliath 2, Wotofo Serpent and Wismec Theorem. And I've today ordered a Geekvape Avocado 24..

I need help :(

What coil are you using in the Subtank and at what power? If you're used to a Nautilus I'm guessing that you are a Mouth To Lung vaper and the Subtank isn't great for that style of vaping.

0.5 coils and a rage of power from 7-15. Yeah the nautilus you use like a normal cig but I've tried both ways with the subtank also tried making the air hole bigger and smaller.

It's not the juice because it's the same as what I've been using in the nautilus

If you've been using high nic (above 6mg) with the subtank this may explain the harshness, when I got my first subtank I dropped from 18mg down to 6mg, now on 3mg

What nic level? Those 0.5 Ohm coils in the Subtank will be horrible at less than 30W. They are designed for 3mg or 6mg direct lung vaping. Did you get a 1.2 Ohm with it? Those are better at around 20W but still aren't going to be as good as a Nautilus for mouth to lung.

If you want a good mouth to lung tank, get yourself a Kabuki clone or a Beyond Vape Silo. They take the Nautilus coils but have so much more flavour. For something a bit newer then look to the Nautilus X.

I'm using 18 haha.

Going to make some juice so I'll make some weaker juice before I give up on it.

I got 2 of them off my mate with a vision battery and a istick 30w for £20. So I just bought the first coils I saw off the rain forest. They look legit. All decent packaging and what not.

If it turns out I still don't like it I'll look into the ones you have mentioned. I want a couple of tanks so I can swap about without cleaning or changing the coil

Thanks for the help

Hey guys, I'm new to the RDA scene so was just wandering if some one can tell me what the difference will be when I use the Alien Clapton compared to the Fused Clapton? Thanks.

I'm not hot on the boutique wire and designer coils scene, it's just a money for metal if you ask me... so I most likely need correcting.. lol

fused clapton is where the two core wires are fused together and alien is where the wrapped wire forms a pretty pattern.

in general there's some rules of thumb when it comes to wire,
- the more surface the wire the more vapor you're going to get.
- the more rigged the wire, the more pockets you have for juice, the overall surface area also increases, the more vapor you're going to get.
- the more wire you have in gauge or length, the more ramp up time and the more power your going to need.

There is an art to making such coils, and I can tell the difference between plain jane kanthal and designer coils, but I don't see myself making any soon.. Once it gets to the levels of different boutique wire and designer coils, I really can't tell, maybe it's lack of experience or interest.. to me it's like people taking about different tyres on road cars.

I normally just use spools normal kantal, clapton or tiny/narrow claptons depending on the atty. I did place a set step coils in to an atty once as the normal claptons was taking too long to ramp up and break in.

EDIT: love the way that manufacture mixes AWG with MMs... laziness. lol

I picked up a nautilus x tank yesterday for £25. I mouth to lung and up to now have been using pro tank 2's...love the draw on them and rewicking the coils has been a great system. I have had 3 pro tanks fall apart on me this year alone so was looking for a replacement. The nautilus x seemed to be the right choice but it turns out it is a direct lung tank trying to be a mouth to lung and I dont like it at all. Great flavour and a great tank for direct lung but it is not for me.

Would anyone be able to recommend a tank that gives a similar draw to the protank 2 and would anyone like to trade for a brand new nautilus x?

I would expect the Alien Clapton's(made with flat wire) will be of a lower resistance than the Fused Clapton's if using the same amount of turns on the coils & that the Alien's will need more wattage to get going.
As for how they vape will depend on the rest of your setup (wicking , airflow etc).

There seems to be some confusion in China as to what exactly an 'Alien' coil is, afaik 'real' alien wire/coils doesn't use ribbon wire, it looks like your packaging states it does.

All is not lost though, I have a spool of China-Alien, same spec as that 0.3x0.8 with 32AWG outer, its basically clapton ribbon wire, its actually very very nice to work with, iirc 5 wraps @ 3mm will give you something like 0.45-0.5ohms

Real Alien looks like: http://cdn3.volusion.com/gcuwh.brdkr/v/vspfiles/photos/TMAC-ALI-2.jpg
