I've used the 'Scottish Roll' method before and I've found it only works with RDA's in my experience. You need that fast wicking capability for those high wattage builds.

I don't find I have to manipulate the Jap Cotton really though, just remove the top and bottom layer. Then use a set of tweezers or something to thin out the strands, trimming the excess.

If you use the Alien at the same power setting as the Coolfire, then it will make little difference, all the mod does is apply wattage/voltage you set, but the Alien can go much higher if you want it to.
One thing to watch with the Alien, the paint is terrible and will chip easy... you can get silicone covers on fasttech to protect them:)
 
After dropping my old Crius not long after I bought it(12 months ago) it developed a very slight leak.
12 months on I have just bought another one and decided to try to strip the old one and hopefully repair it.
It took a lot of faffing to split it but I managed to get it apart and give it a clean and I now have a non leaking Crius again.

Looking for a good RDA, my TFV8 is class for work and stuff but want something for home i can mess on with a bit and get good flavour and cloud from.
Got the Smok Alien Mod, guessing the troll v2 is what is going to be recommended, but any other choices before I go ahead and fasttech that?
 
Also i was in a shop the other day talking to a lad that builds insane coils and he was talking about the wire/coils that are by far the best i really cant remember what they were called and its stressing me out it wasnt clapton. Cant remember...
 
I now have 2 Crius set ups
1 with SS 317 and 1 with kanthal, both using same no of wraps/diameter, same wicking and the Kanthal build has the most flavour.
I haven't used temp control for ages now anyway as I found it was pretty much a waste of time and just used wattage mode instead.
Don't think I will bother with stainless from now on.

Yep troll v2 rda is excellent for building, clouds galore and flavour for days.

Alien?? Hive?? Stapled clapton?? With any of those coils, you will need to vape at a very high wattage. I have an alien coil setup and I vape at 80watts but on my dual alien setup, I have to ramp it up to 100watts just to get it heated up fast enough.

Keep in mind at those high wattages, your batteries and juice will drain pretty quick.

Troll v2, lush plus, TM2, rashamon, doge v3, velocity v2 to name a few :)

I tend to bounce between my troll v2, TM and doge v3, but I have a feeling one of those will get retired when my mad dog arrives.

Wasnt any of those had a 'scary' name to it cant think of it for the life of me...
I tend to run high wattages anyways so no worries in that regard
