My beef with the Smok cartos is they hold lots of juice and tend to go off quicky. One minute it's fine, excellent even, next bog all vapour and or crap taste. Fed up of chucking £2.50 and some juice away so early when Boge cartos at about a quid last much longer and don't get rubbish flavour. I gave up on making my own juice for a bit, must get back into it.

Any rebuildables worth thinking about? Wasn't over the moon with the eGo Vision V3 tbh

It sounds like rebuildables are a giant PITA from all the stories of getting wicks and coils just right etc. I nearly bought one, but everyone who had one said "I love mine, but it will be the most frustrating thing ever" so I decided to leave it.

Crowort, are you making the wick just so it slides in and out of the wick hole freely but with no excessive gaps? and does your setup run with the fill screw in, just laid mine down while admiring the poldiac and well you can guess what happened lol top cap flooded....At present ive been doing the 2mm drill method if you know of it, and im not having much luck, so need to start hand wrapping the coils i think. You say you cut an angle at the top? shouldnt that be the bottom to help wicking?

It isn't so loose it would fall out but you don't need to push hard to put it in or pull hard to take it out. I don't put the fill screw in but I might try it on this and see how it goes. Yeah you can't lay them down without them leaking. I don't use the drill bit method because I don't have anything close enough to the right thickness. I've heard others praise it but I'm not convinced I'd be able to get the coil just right doing it. I only cut it at an angle because a lot of the videos I watched they did that, I'm not sure if it makes a difference but every wick that has worked I've had the angle cut so just keep doing it.

Edit: Just put the fill screw in and the only difference it made was make the draw a little less airy. I like a bit of a tighter draw sometimes so that isn't a problem. Still much more airy than the VH Genie.

Ive had my old batteries from my Tornado on the go for 9-10 months now and they are finally coming to the end of their lives.

I bought a USB pass through battery, sold as 'specifically for the ego c attys' about 3 months ago and that has already started to flake out where as the old ones i bought (all pass throughs) out lasted it by far.

This new one i bought that only lasted a few months didnt seem as good build quility as the originals i bought. Im guessing 'they dont make them like they used to'.

These pass throughs cost about £17, what alternatives do i have for my ego c attys to using the bog standard batteries? Im after something that i could buy recharagable batteries for, something to lower the overall cost. Doesnt matter how bulky the set up is. Although im not liking the idea of having a car battery to lug about ;)

If you don't mind bulky a Vamo and some 18650 batteries is a good bet. You need to charge the 18650s in a charger. You can get them up in the 2000mah which will last most people at least a day. The cost is more than your passthrus but they it should last a lot longer.

The ego c will likely look a bit strange on a tube mod like the vamo because it is thin to match an ego. Not a problem if you don't mind the look. You would also need a 510 to ego adapter

The setup would likely cost you 50-70 pounds so it would cost you a lot more.

If that was too much I'd go for something like the 1000mah Ego Twist Two of them should keep most vapers happy. Nice cheap VV batteries. Not much more than a standard ego at a 1000mah so might as well get the VV type imo

Yup id suggest a Vamo-Lavatube-Sigelei Zmax, with a couple of Senybor 18650's or some Panasonic CGR18650CH's, couple that with an Xtar WP2 charger and your cooking, cant go wrong with any of them, the Lavatube your looking at the chrome version, either a v2 or v4, if it can check the ohms of the atty thats a good one.

On a related note to Crowort, thanks for the advice, got a wick and coil working sort of, plagued with a top coil hotspot not the legs, so will remove wick and re-oxidise later and re-coil...used 30x40mm 400 mesh, wicking quite well with the genesis tilt lol.

Just found this thread quite new to ecigs and bought a jacvapour 510 ciggie lookalike kit just to see if it was something i can get on with and have not touched a real fag since i started so want to go further with it. Am looking for a good cheapish tank kit as i am tired of the cartridges now they seem to be so hit and miss one minute you get decent puff and taste the next minute nothing and a burnt taste which is not nice as most of you probably know.

If possible don't want any totally wicked recommnendations had a couple of dealings with them and to say it didn't go well would be massive understatement do not ever want to deal with them again. One i was looking at was the innokin itaste vv seems good for the price (bearing in mind i haven't got a clue) and like the idea of passthrough as i sit tight next to a plug socket at home where i do 95% of my vaping so if it is possible to have passthrough thats great.

Sorry if this has been covered before but quite a large thread and some of you are into it more then i want to be really don't mind a bit of work to get good results but rebuilding and the like more hassle then i want would probably drive me back to baccy some of what i have read about it. Anyway guys hope some of you have some good suggestions and look forward too reading them.

Recently started vaping and bought this kit http://www.vapeland.co.uk/ego-t-ce5-black-starter-kit-900mah-97-p.asp. So far it has been good and I haven't had the urge to smoke a real cig. I am looking for some suggestions for juice that tastes like real tobacco that gives that kick to the back of the throat. Tried some RY-4, but I find that it is a little too sweet and would like something with a bit more burn to the throat.

Since starting vaping my breathing has got a lot better, energy levels are up and my sense of smell and taste are coming back.

TBH I've never found a tobacco flavour I like. What's the point of tobacco flavour anyway? It's like vegetarian sausages. Madness!

I like a variety of flavours and regularly have two on the go at once (in different cartos), usually something like coffee or mint during the day with something like coconut or cherry for an after dinner vape

Tobacco eliquids tasting like a normal cigarette? There are none and never will be :)

But there are some really nice tobacco flavours, as opposed to fruit type flavours which I sicken of very quickly, I can happily use a good tobacco eliquid all day.

house of liquid do good tobaccos, the Vermillion river range is very good, and really must get around to ordering the triphammer stuff from vape escape, also reckoned to be very nice.

The best of the best I have tried is House of Liquid's El Toro range, of which El Cigarillos is my favourite. It is a very leafy tobacco taste, not necessarily the ashy dryness of a fag, but it is the best tobacco juice I've tried (it's made from soaking real cigar leaves rather than from synthesized flavourings). I would never pay for premixed liquids these days, but that's the only one I still think is worth the price. They also do one with an apple-sours-esque flavour mixed in with the same liquid that is really nice if you want something a bit lighter or more refreshing to go with it. They're just delicious.

Just bought a E-Lites starter pack from Sainsbury's. Think I just Nicotine poisoned myself because was so used to the smoke from tobacco but kept on pulling.

I'll live. :)

Going forward, what's the kit I need to get - I like the idea of Cherry or Vanilla (etc) flavoured Nicotine hits that cost reasonable money.

so its just propylene glycol as the solvent?

just got an ecig and at 18mg its a big too strong.
i do however have litres of PG in the lab and could dilute with it.

You can use Propylene glycol which is used in most juice. We tend to use food or pharma grade, something to do with hydrocarbons or something in the lower grades? I don't know but follow the advice of people that do and use the higher grade stuff.

You can also use glycerine which gives more vapour production and a smother vape.

Thjere are plenty of good liquids out there. For fruity flavours I've found Totally Wicked Gold Standard to be the most realistic and the least "hard boiled sweet" vibe.

I found it took me about 2 weeks to find a rhythm with vaping, so keep at it and you'll find your feet.

I found the hardest part being able to stop. It's too easy to vape :p At least I no longer stink of an ashtray, can taste and smell again. Had to drop a level in the curry stakes though

PG on it's own will not produce much vapour and probably less throat hit. You need nice mix of PG/VG that suits you and your chosen equipment IMO. 70/30 PG/VG does me

Speaking of which I am going to stop being lazy and get my lab coat on, get back into mixing my own. Want to sell some PG? :p

cheers - i'll have to see what stuff we have in the lab - i'd better make sure its decent pure stuff first!

Hello, Chaps, want to to move on to these e cigs from smoking, have browsed the forum, but still confused, what to buy. any links to good starter kits.

I think the general consensus is that it's best to steer away from the cigarette look-a-likes due to poor battery life, rubbish atomisers and (for me) more confusion with people thinking you're smoking. They are, however, a cheap way to give it a go if you don't have a lot of cash to spend. I would recommend investing in more satisfying kit if you can afford it though.

A good starter kit is anything that comes with an ego battery (also branded as tornado on the totally wicked site). They also make a variable voltage version that allows you to get more vapour/hit out of your atomiser to suit your taste (the Ego Twist). Get two so you can charge one and use the other. Any 510/ego connection charger will be fine for those. and then it's just a matter of choosing your atomiser.

I like the smok dual coil mega cartomisers for ease of use and performance. They're basically a metal tube with some wick material inside with two heating coils. Drip your liquid in and once it's soaked in you puff away all day. You'd want to replace them every 2-4 weeks as the wick wears out, and they cost about £3 each. Some people like tanks, although I find they don't always wick very well and can leave you with a horrible burnt taste. It depends what you get.

Then pick up some liquid. Are you looking to get something tobacco flavour? Or try something totally different? House of Liquid make an awesome tobacco liquid in their El Toro range called El Cigarrillos. For fruity flavours I really like Totally Wicked E-liquid's Gold Standard range. Start on 11-18mg strength and get 10ml taster bottles until you find a flavour/strength that suits you.

If you just want a basic starter kit, then this will be fine (although the atomisers that come with it are pretty average and I'm not a fan. Cheap to replace with the DC cartos I linked above if you don't get on with them) http://vapourhut.com/Ecig-Kits/Intermediate-kits/VH-Star-Kit
