Does anyone on here use a genesis style tank? What are your thoughts?

I'm quite content with my Vivi Nova on my Vision spinner and I can rewick and recoil the heads with no problems, however I have read very good things about the Genesis style tanks.

Funnily enough, I dug out my vivi nova after disliking it intensley when I first tried it. I mixed a PG-heavy mix to improve wicking and it was actually really good on my Vamo.

My only complaints are that if it isn't tilted in the right direction (almost horizontal when it starts running below half filled) then it doesn't wick and burns, and also it started flooding really badly when laid down after a week of use with the same head. Literally 2ml of juice just disappeared down the centre into my Vamo while I was driving. Filled it at a traffic light, picked it up a few minutes later and it was nearly empty! I guess the wicks need a bit of maintenance, or the rubber seal at the top had crapped out. I went through a lot of juice with it anyway, but maybe that's where it was all going! Either way, I'm back on the Smok Mega DC again. They just work. I wish they lasted longer at peak performance though.

Can't say i've noticed any of these problems at all. It really does feel like a solid bit of kit with no leaks or flooding so far. I've only been using it for 2 days though so time will tell I guess.

Have you tried modding it a bit to increase airflow? I think the draw is a very personal thing. I hate an airy draw, but also dislike a very tight draw. Maybe a bit of filing will open it up a bit for you?

Sir, I hope you're well. I got a little worried there for a second when I saw no response ! :D

Yes you're right.... it needed more break in time and the way I was vaping previously is debatable. Almost a week on and I'm reaching for the iTaste first and what I've found with the Tidy 10s is that they prefer less viscous liquids. I haven't had a single dry hit in days.

I've got two Genesis and now find everything else pretty rubbish. Rewicking a Nova is different but if you can get good coils in that small space it shouldn't be to hard. You don't get the same kind of shorting issues with fibre wicks I find, so you'll likely need to learn a few things.

Out of the two I have the Aga T2+ (there are a lot of revisions) is the better for me. An Aga looks great on a vamo if you happen to have one. The T2+ has the same finish and is the same width. I see you said you have a spinner, it would likely be an issue since it wouldn't stand upright and Genesis atties will leak if on their side. I've been lucky with the Aga the juice has all pooled in the top cap and dripped back down but they aren't good at not being upright.

It is pretty frustrating to start with. I'd recommend having something you can vape on when it isn't working and you are ready to give up. It took me a couple months to really get good at making wicks and coiling them. Now I can recoil it in a couple minutes normally.

Edit: The Aga can be used with silica wick too I should say. I forget about that since I haven't tried it out. I believe it isn't that good with Silica thou. It really is a nice attie for £20, fully stainless steal with a Pyrex tank (mine came witha polycarb one too)

Haha, I often miss this thread because it gets buried so quickly, so I just respond when I see it pop up.

I'd be interested in a guide to rewicking a nova if anyone knows a nice simple one. I might see how I get on. I don't even know where to get wicks and wire!

I can't view that on my windows phone (grrr) but I'll assume it's a helpful guide so thanks! Where does one source the necessary supplies? I'm also running very low on PG and VG, so any recommendations on cheap good bases in large quantities would be awesome :)

Yeah, it's the guide I followed when I started rebuilding my heads.

You can buy them off any vaping website that's half decent, or buy off eBay (sometimes cheaper).

Thanks for your insight on the Genesis style heads Crowort. I'll have a play about with one next time I order some supplies.

guys, thanks for all your advice but it's all a bit technical for me. looked at a lot of the recent links for stuff, and I have NFC what any of them do or what else I need to buy with them.

there's cartomisers and clearomisers and wicking. all of these are new words to me that make no sense.

the principle of it is working fine for me, and i'm geeky enough to eventually pick up all the terminology - but for now it's a wall.

Surely there must exist some sort of decent product for general people?

I buy my PG on ebay. I got a litre last time so will last me a good while. lincs-products is the one I ordered from since other vapers had used them with good results. They offer free delivery, think it was about a tenner for a litre. Make sure you order the food grade and not just the normal PG (could have stuff you don't want in there) He hasn't always got all sizes listed and does sell non-food grade PG you you need to check it says food grade on the listing.

I'm looking for some good VG in a good amount with cheap / free delivery atm Since a litre weights so much they tend to add it to the cost or charge a lot for delivery. Boots sometimes have it but my local one doesn't carry it as standard and wanted me to pay to get it delivered to their store via their website which made it not any cheaper than buying elsewhere and they were a bit sniff about selling it.

Wire and wick can be had at the normal e-cig stores or if you want loads you can get it on ebay. I'd get a smaller amount of them to start with since you need to play about with them to find what you like. The downside of small amounts is they don't come on spools so get tangled easy and tend to cost more per metre.

I'm basically out of VG so if I see a good deal or you happen to find one we can share the site.

Edit: This VG looks a good price. Just under £6 for a litre plus free delivery or cheapish for next day.

Sorry I can't remember what you are using? There are lots of basic cartomisers / cleromisers out there. Are you looking for advice what people would suggest? I can't help to much as I don't use the more basic stuff now. They have replaced most of what I used to use with newer verisons (which can change a lot in the vaping world) or the quality has changed (I here Boges ain't as good any more).

Edit read up a bit. I'm not totally up on starter kits for the best price but something like the VH Star Kit would be a good start imo That kit doesn't come with juice but is a lot cheaper than the ones I could find that do. Could throw in their Sampler Gives you 10mls of juice at a good mid high strength in 5 flavours to try.

^^ Not a bad start at all, throw in some mixed cartos to try

Sadly there is no one size fits all for vaping, a lot of it is personal preference = lots of trial and error

Thank you. That gives me a good starting point.

Still a bit confused tho. Do I need to buy something to put liquid in?

Just cup your hands ;)

Premixed liquid will come in dripper bottles, no need for anything else. If you move onto DIY mixing, then you'll need some bottles and syringes etc

The liquid goes into the atomiser (the bit that heats it up and creates a liquid). They come with the kit that's linked there. The first post in this thread has some info to help you decode the jargon if you want to have a look.

Chaps,

I recently bought an e-lites starter pack at the cost of £25 in the hope of finally quitting cigarettes, was really motivated to quit and heard good things about elites but was so disappointed. They are like sucking on a straw and leave me incredibly frustrated.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good kit or where I'm going wrong? Sorry if this has been asked 100 times before.

Have a look at this

I think the general consensus is that it's best to steer away from the cigarette look-a-likes due to poor battery life, rubbish atomisers and (for me) more confusion with people thinking you're smoking. They are, however, a cheap way to give it a go if you don't have a lot of cash to spend. I would recommend investing in more satisfying kit if you can afford it though.

A good starter kit is anything that comes with an ego battery (also branded as tornado on the totally wicked site). They also make a variable voltage version that allows you to get more vapour/hit out of your atomiser to suit your taste (the Ego Twist). Get two so you can charge one and use the other. Any 510/ego connection charger will be fine for those. and then it's just a matter of choosing your atomiser.

I like the smok dual coil mega cartomisers for ease of use and performance. They're basically a metal tube with some wick material inside with two heating coils. Drip your liquid in and once it's soaked in you puff away all day. You'd want to replace them every 2-4 weeks as the wick wears out, and they cost about £3 each. Some people like tanks, although I find they don't always wick very well and can leave you with a horrible burnt taste. It depends what you get.

Then pick up some liquid. Are you looking to get something tobacco flavour? Or try something totally different? House of Liquid make an awesome tobacco liquid in their El Toro range called El Cigarrillos. For fruity flavours I really like Totally Wicked E-liquid's Gold Standard range. Start on 11-18mg strength and get 10ml taster bottles until you find a flavour/strength that suits you.

If you just want a basic starter kit, then this will be fine (although the atomisers that come with it are pretty average and I'm not a fan. Cheap to replace with the DC cartos I linked above if you don't get on with them) http://vapourhut.com/Ecig-Kits/Intermediate-kits/VH-Star-Kit

I think someone linked a decent VHStar kit on the last page as well.

Im using an AGA-T2 genisis style with a lavatube off and on but normaly go back to the boges they seem to be flawless allthough i do find the steel version better than black? same cartos i know but they just seem to last better, a mate has started boiling his old boges then letting them dry i think there are a few YT vids to show how its done atm he is getting maybe 5 out of 10 working again so saves a bit of cash but he tends to use flavored juice not tobacco

Thank you.

I'm about to go for that VH Star Kit, what else do I need with it? Just the liquid?

Yep. What kind of flavour were you looking at? You name it, someone has made a flavour to vape it. Seriously, there's bacon and chilli flavours out there for the brave. Also, how many did you smoke? Heavier smokers tend to start on higher strength nicotine liquids, generally 11-18mg is a good starting point.

I'm not a giant fan of the atomisers that come with that kit (others are though), but since they'll wear out after a few weeks of use anyway (atomisers are a cheap consumable) you can replace them with pretty much any other kind if you'd like to try something different. That's one of the cool things about that kit: ego batteries fit nearly every atty out there.
