You will have a full on vape collection before you know it, haha!
Better than spending the money on cigs where all you have at the end of the day is an empty cigarette pack and a smelly ashtray full of stub ends. :)

What an original lite or or a clone version?

Cheers all

Sorry missed your reply, I have a KFL genuine. Recoiled, rewicked, made sure the coil is the correct distance from the deck, will get 5 good pulls, then a dry then leaking.

Getting bored of having to primer pull every 6th pull.

Back to the dripper I go...

I came into this with the whole plan of not ending up like the guys with a shelf full of vaping gear, but it's so easy to get to that stage when you want to try different stuff...
FT and their ridiculously low prices are just not helping :D

You're right, at least this way I have something to show for it instead of a bin full of ash and butts and this so much more enjoyable :)

I think for me the experimentation and the fiddling around was a great help to keep my mind off smoking almost as much as vaping itself. And if you use FastTech you can build up a vast collection with relatively little outlay.

If you are having fun at the same time as kicking the habit, I think that really helps an awful lot! :D

Well thought i'd give you guys an update
My KFL clone arrived yesterday it came with a coil and wick pre installed it's a very big tank system and is very weighty which is nice!
But!!!!
after priming it i still got dry hit's!!! :(
i turned the voltage right down to the minimum on the MVP2 and even after 2 or 3 vapes i still get them.
Can any one help?
I did order some pre made coils and a jet lighter to burn them off (FYI i didn't torch the pre installed coil other than dry burning it with no liquid on it 3-4 times didn't see any hot spots so figured it would be ok?)

So i'm going to wait till the new coils come and give it another try also whats the other screw hole for? ones for air flow which i worked out but the other one didn't seem to do anything? i even took the screw out and no liquid came out so im guessing it's not a fill port?

On a positive note i decided to order some new e liquid to go with my new KFL 3.1 clone i went with vampire vapes ( im a sucker for bright packaging!)
I got a 4 pack of flavours Heisenburg , Pinkman, Bat Juice and Funky monkey
They only came this morning so i popped Pinkman in an iclear i30s and it's an amazing fruity flavour tastes like Vimto/Slush puppy definately my new vape for awhile!

Yeah, it satisfies the fiddling itch and us PC/tech geeks love our gadgets and tweaking stuff at the end of the day. Win win!

Are the 'juice channels' clear? If there is wick blocking the channels that can cause dry hits. I guess the preinstalled wick is silica, is that right? Silica wick is a lot less efficient at drawing liquid to the coil than organic/Japanese cotton or cellucotton (Rayon).

Are you referring to the screw on the bottom, next to the 510 connection? if so that is the fill port. :)

I'm not to sure on how to check without getting e liquid everywhere! but when i get the new coils i'll make sure they arn't , on the wick im guessing it's what ever the cheapest is! i do need to order some of that japanese cotton.

The screw is hole is to the right of the air flow hole. not on the underneath where the 510 connector is aslso mine is just a solid base piece with no hole on the underside it is a kfl 3.1 clone though

well just stripped it down the sillica cotton was done in a weird way one end of the coil has about 2 mm of cotton and then the rest was on the otherside of the coil? when i pulled the cotton from the coil there were what looks like burn marks so im guessing that's where i get the funny burnt taste from.

so cleaned it all and it's now on the radiator drying going to have to see if i have better luck with the pre made coils and if that fails bulk order a ton of cotton and wire from FT!

Tbh mate, I'd order some 0.3/28g kanthal and some cotton from a uk based site and you'll have it by Tuesday. FT is a bit of a longers for that kind of stuff.

Those wide spaced, pre made coils/silica are pretty terrible.

@yaboydom Sounds like you found the problem with the wicking, it was not drawing liquid from both sides of the coil so could not keep up. You can get a bag of 100 organic cotton balls, the make is Simply Gentle, only costs a couple of quid and will last you forever. ;)

The screw may still be a fill port, but one that has a valve in it, hence no liquid leaking, but I am not 100% on that as I am unfamiliar with that particular model.

Edit: I agree with Uncle Petey, those pre made coils are not great, get the cotton balls I mentioned and some 28 gauge Kanthal and you will be sorted.

Thanks for the reply guys :D
Do either of you have any sites you prefer to use that you can link me to?

My only concern is i don't have an ohm meter to check my own coils other than i guess screwing it on to the mvp2 and checking from there not too sure how accurate it is.

That makes sense on the valve fill port i just took the top off and filled from there just because i saw early people mentioning about leakage and i hate getting e liquid on my hands more due to the horrible feeling it leaves as the strength is only 6mg!!!

There are loads of sites really. The Vape Mesh Company is one decent place to order from.
The MVP2 is accurate enough I've found.

As for filling, hold it upside down with your finger over the airhole and fill from the bottom. You may want screw in the adjustment screw, but I dunno as I don't use my other KFL that has the screw anymore and can't remember if I needed to.

This site may prove useful for coil wrapping and calculating ohms law etc http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp

I would still advise getting an ohms reader or checking your resistance with a multi meter where possible though, and is a must if you are using a mechanical mod.

The cotton and wire should be easy enough to find on the rainforest or the bay ;)

Filling a KF from the top can result in leaking from the airhole as it works on vacuum, when you screw the top on it can "pressurize" the tank and force liquid out of the air hole.

Thanks uncle petey for the site i'll check it out now

And thanks slick rick for explaining more about the fill hole and the filling process i feel like once i get some wick and cotton i'll be unstoppable!

After receiving the mini RDA, I've spent several hours trying to get the thing to work! long story short, I've finally got it firing at 1.2 ohm stable, the darn thing is just sooo small and kept shorting.

No doubt the master coil builder amongst us will have no issues but the only way I've managed to do it was to coil up the wire place the kanthal in the middle then pull on it.

I've given up building on it for today... here's a pic with my istick.

I'm going to wait till my 28 gauge comes in the post then try building a longer coil.

TBH the thing only cost me 7 pounds, and the drip tip is rather nice, c9v even included 30ml of pineapple vape juice so I got my moneys worth there alone.

When you screw the chimney on,leave off the little nipple. get a very thin screwdriver type tool and use it to push the cotton away from the edges of the base. All my tanks are full or I would post a pic. Youn want to be able to see the channels on the outside of the chimney and also on the inside. Once you get it it works and will always work but It took me a while and quite a few dry hits. Also filling it to much using fill screw borks the vacum.

Also I found 3mm diameter coils work best for me as 2mm were not wicking well enough for me
