Well before tanks it was because you didn't have to wait for the fluid to wick, or have inconsistancies with flavour/vapour plus the flavour was much more pronounced.
With tanks whilst they're great the draw is pretty stiff and slow to stop heavy users flooding the coil by drawing too hard on it and using a dripped 510 allows a much smoother draw, better flavour than the tanks and is lower resistance than tanks to begin with.

I've tried it, but I'm just not getting on with it.
I keep getting a really dry throat, which means I can't sleep at all at night. Drinking more doesn't seem to help - perhaps the vapour is leaving a film of stuff at the back of my throught? I dunno.

Bog standard Tornado Tank in platinum (not found in shed) with some TW tobacco flavour (not sure which) and Decadent coconut which is awesome
I got the starter kit from TW with the two batteries, vaporisers and spare tanks. Started off on a pack of the imitation cigs, this is so much better.
Been hearing lots of good things about this - so as a smoker of 20 years

Comes with 5 prefilled tanks, tobacco or menthol depending on what you chose. There are 2 x 18mg, 2 x 11mg, 1 x 8mg strength liquids, I think you'll find the 18mg the best but you never know. If you want stronger nicotine its best to buy your own neat solution, base and flavour. Works out cheaper in the long run but the initial outlay is more. I'd go with a couple of 10ml bottles or a selection pack of 5ml samples until you find your feet.
TBH I think too many people limit themselves to tobacco flavours - they aren't the be all and end all of vaping

I like tobacco flavours but I think most people that stick with vaping will sound find that non-tobacco flavours are really great too. Other flavours tend to taste more like you'd expect. Tobacco flavours tend to taste of fairly unknown things, mostly nutty sweetness, but you can get a load of different types. Things like blackberry pretty much taste like the real thing.
If you find it really drying (everyone needs to drink a bit more with vaping) normally it is the PG. A mix with more glycerine normally helps. Depends on the site you can get high or all glycerine juice. It doesn't have as much 'throat hit' so some people like to add things that will increase that. TW doesn't have many all glycerine juices but they have everything to mix your own, some of the other sites offer it pre-mixed.

They do you just pick the colour from a drop down menu.

Not so sure about that. It went solid green after about 10 miuntes. Shook it a bit and went back to red.
Ill try with the mains charge when i get home. Got that as well as a few more batteries, so im not totally stranded.
Also these batteries have memories, so if the charge was at fault its probably muffed up the battery.

What device do you have? I doubt it's anything to do with the PG as that can take weeks to appear and has all sorts of other symptoms. Sounds more likely that the fluid isn't wicking correctly to me, which can happen with Tornado Tanks sometimes (I have a few like that).

I swear when I was checking out there were no platinum accessories I was lead to believe these ones don't have memories? There is a micro circuit to stop them fully discharging I read because that can kill them. I've yet to have one die on me and some of them are almost a year old.
You might have got a bad one? I've not had to use it but I believe TW are fairly good with returns. Let us know how it goes. I wonder if your usb port (if you weren't using a mains adapter) might be underpowered?
The mains charge takes ages because it is for the older type and just has an adapter to fit the newer ones. The old type would be damaged taking as high a charge as the newer ones can take.
