I bought a couple of tanks with replaceable heads at the beginning of the month and thought I'd do a quick comparison/review. I'm still a bit of a vaping noob. I've only been doing it a couple of months but I've cut down on the “real” smokes a lot since I've started.
I bought a Vision Ego 3, Kanger T2 and Vision Nova V2.
I tested all three with 2.4ohm heads and using the same RY4 liquid from VapeEscape and the same Ego battery.
First thoughts:
Ego 3
I've used the Ego 2 as my main tank for a while now and a replaceable head makes this a much nicer prospect.
Filling was easy with plenty of room to get the liquid in the tank past the head. It made the least amount of vapour out of the three but still tasted quite good.
The Ego 3 holds the least amount of liquid at 1.6ml but is enough to keep me going for a while.
T2
Filling this up was a bit difficult at first until I noticed that the head had a slight cut-out to allow the liquid past. A needle top on a bottle would have been very useful to fill it.
After filling, I really liked this tank. It made a decent amount of vapour and tasted good. Having a small wick though meant that standing it upright caused the head to dry out, though tipping it up for a bit soaked the wick and gave a good vape.
Nova
This was the easiest to fill. It had plenty of room to add the liquid into the tank and held the most at 2.8ml.
It's got 510 connector on it which didn't sit very well on the battery with quite a bit of movement, but a DCT Plinth on the battery made it fit quite well.
The main problem I had was that I got a burnt taste, probably due to the small wick size, the same problem that the T2 has. I've read that dropping a few drops of liquid onto the coil sorts this out, but as a vape noob this is not what I'm looking for in a tank. I want a tank that I can fill up and I'm done: my tank is ready to go with no more flapping about.
Conclusions
I really wanted to like and recommend the T2. It made a decent amount of vapour, held a decent amount of liquid and was good tasting.
But I couldn't because of this:
You can't see it very well but the mouth piece on the T2 is made of 2 bits, the plastic mouth piece and the metal ring. My T2 separated after a couple of days. This meant that the liquid leaked into the head and was no longer contained in the tank. Tipping it over to fill the wick leaked liquid out of the unit. There's also a small crack in the plastic mouthpiece which means more liquid leaks.
So I have to recommend the Vision Ego V3. It's a middle of the road tank. Doesn't do anything really well, but at the same time doesn't do anything badly. It's easy to fill, has a good taste and holds a reasonable amount of liquid.
The one problem I have had with the Ego 3 was unscrewing it from the battery: I held the plastic part of the tank to unscrew it and the liquid leaked. When unscrewing it, hold the metal part at the bottom of the tank and everything is good!
If the T2 ever becomes a T3 with a mouthpiece that is a single unit then I'm sure that will become my favourite noob friendly tank. Until then though:
Is the winner!
