Poll: The Vega Review Thread.

What do we think about Vega?

  • What has AMD been doing for the past 1-2 years?

  • It consumes how many watts and is how loud!!!

  • It is not that bad.

  • Want to buy but put off by pricing and warranty.

  • I will be buying one for sure (I own a Freesync monitor so have little choice).

  • Better red than dead.

So asus shown us that you cant make gold from **** ... If they cant get it going better only Jesus or God himself could..

Cant see anyone not stupid buying v64 over 1080 aib.. Maybe with freesync monitor... MAYBE
The Asus cooler is awesome I had it on an old 1080. I suspect the vega 64 is too much for it though.

In terms of performance an AIB Vega air card simply won't compete with the LC version however good the air cooling so we already know that top AIB cards won't better the LC or a stock 1080fe.

I'm flipping over the moon with it. Twice the performance of what I had, Freesync is amazing with it. The combination of both means, gaming is a real joy again. :)

I think that needs a bit of context to mean much.
Were you coming from a card a few generation old or previous gen?
Was it a highend card or a medium/low end card?

If you're coming from an AMD 260 or an Nvidia 570 it's not saying much. If you're coming from Fury X or 980Ti then it's more meaningful.

Had 390 crossfire previously, but you might as well call it a 390 and a case weight lmao.

I went from a Fury X at 4k to Vega 64 air cooled and it gives anything from 20% to 100% performance increase. The 100% increase is most likely a VRAM limit at 4K being removed, regardless it is what it is.

For example I had a few games that were dropping well out of Freesync range at 4K with anything other than medium settings (1440p was fine). Deus ex Mankind, Mass Effect Andromenda, ROTTR, Dishonored 2 all had problems at 4k. Vega 64 now lets me keep well within Freesync range at 4K in those games.

Right now it's cheaper to buy a standalone vega 64 than it is to buy the pack vega 56.

Oh dear.

But the "free" games make up for it :D

£30 extra for a slower GPU and 2x games you could get for the £30 anyway. Just madness with these packs and prices.

As I've said I'm coming from a Fury Pro and the Vega 64 AC is quite awesome for me TBH. Just my opinion.

That's good to hear. I'm hoping to get one of the 3rd part cooled ones, if the price isn't too silly.
Wondering how it'll compare to my 980 SLI, Fury X CF and 1080Ti @ 1440p. If it's significantly better than a Fury (Pro) it could be promising.

It will happen. You can't run crossfire at all without supporting drivers. You can however use multiple cards for other things such as GPGPU (Mining) no problem. Even with mixed cards.

someone on reddit reported stability issues with multi-vega
anyways not enough time for even unboxing the computer right now

just curious.. how does cfx mature.. do they add games to the existing universe.. or do they drop support for older games while maintaining a fixed coverage?

thanks.
