The "what do you think of Pink Floyd?" thread

Really like most of their albums (not really sure what Animals was all about, but i'll let that slide). Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall are uniquely interesting and quality music, with few albums anywhere to compare.

What do you think of pink floyd? :p

Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall are easily two of the greatest albums ever IMO, although The Wall is about as downbeat and depressing as anything can get.

The live album release of The Wall (Is there anybody out there?) is far better as a whole than the actual album - songs such as Don't Leave Me Now and Waiting for Worms sound so much better live I can't stand the studio versions now.

Best band out there so far imho.

Most of any other music sounds puny and simple in comparison.

Comparing the Beatles with PF , both make very good music but it's completely different, a different type of music.

I think theyre fantastic, the wall and the division bell are my own personal favourites. I remember watching live 8, when they were announced, two old guys who didnt get on for years, (gilmour and waters), when they played together on that day, it was fantastic. Such a tragedy that they did fall out, but ive heard recently that gilmour is going to play a few dates along with waters, hopefully so, id sell my two legs to get tickets for that.

I actually quite like animals, dogs is one of my favourite songs!

I have to say Animals is one of my favourites too. I can't wait to see Roger Waters perform 'The Wall' live next year. I am taking my girlfriend and explained to her that as the first half of the album is played the wall is built across the front of the stage and she said 'so we have paid £170 for 2 tickets to watch a wall being built, great' :D

I am taking my girlfriend

Back in 1974 going to see Pink Floyd at Trentham Gardens on the DSOTM tour was our first date and we are still together after 36 years.
They played the whole of DSOTM and all of Animals which my mate recorded on the balcony and it became the biggest selling bootleg ever (he got nothing).
They also played Echoes as an encore.
I went to see them another 2 times in the 70s but I don't know why because I think they are boring and overrated but I used to go and watch anybody then.
