The "What's your headunit?" thread

Pioneer AVIC F930BT for me, I work at a car audio shop so mine changes fairly regularly. The 930 is the best one i've trialled yet IMO

Now that I do like!

Match the button and display illumination with your car’s interior. Our NavGate systems all feature a full RGB (Red, Green and Blue) colour palette, so you can customise and match the system illumination as you like.

If you could load that up with Tom Tom type nav (I just like the interface of tom tom) Then I'd actually consider a upgrade from the factory unit in the swift.

Believe me, I drive a vectra and it even matches "mankey amber" illumination colour!

The navigation is absolutely fantastic, lots more responsive than the Sony units that actually come with a pixelated mess of Tomtom. I was fortunate enough to be in the position where I could choose ALpine S900, Sony 66 or 77BT and Pioneer F930BT or F30BT.
I'm quite happy with my choice.

Do all BMW owners havethe standard setup? Our 02 plate 3 series has the standard tape deck / 6 disc changer but I really need my ipod hooking up. The D-ICE / Intravee hardly seems worth it when I only get 1 line of text though.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

An old school pullout Alpine 7915M connected up to a 3672 active crossover, a 3566 6 ch amp and a 3553 4 ch amp. (which really needs to be tidied up)

Mine doesn't have a remote, there is a DAP switch where the IR sensor would be for the top of the range models. (7918, 7919, 7980) The sound quality is remarkably good. It cost £360 in 1993. I reckon it needs some capacitors changing as it picks up noise that the original unit didn't. (with the same amps and cables) I've got another 2 spare units from the same era, but they both have faults now.
