The "What's your headunit?" thread

Not mine but I have one of these with a 6 disk changer in the boot. Sounds fine to me over the H&K speakers, but then again I'm no audiophile.

A Blaupunkt Frankfurt. FM and an AUX (kinda) input as standard. Not bad for a unit that is 45 years old.

Super retro!

Considering the age I could be wrong, but Blaupunkt have given German place names to their top end head units. So it's possible this was the flag ship stereo of the time!

Yes, I believe that the Frankfurt of this era was standard fit in most Porsches and Mercs so it is a very high end unit for the 60's.

The GT6 when it was originally sold came with the option of having a Motorola with only LW and MW so when I saw this Blaupunkt up for sale on eBay I snapped it up. Unfortunately after fitting it into the car and connecting up the single speaker (it is only a mono output) it is very hard to hear anything as the exhaust makes too much noise :D . That plus the fact that I have to lean out the window and pull the arial up each time I turn it on as it is not automatic :p

No pictures but my head unit is probably the rock bottom of the kenwood range.
I don't care though as my exhaust pretty blows all of its 45w away :)

Pioneer 8300BT installed and running beautifully. Need to look through the manual to figure a few bits out but the basics are all easy enough and it sounds very nice. Bluetooth also working a charm.

That would drive me mad with the hints of red/orange/white on the swift and you now have blue for the head unit. Steering wheel controls still work?

Yeah steering controls still work, The lights aren't too bad because the headunit is a lot brighter than the rest so that catches you eye more than the rest.

Quick question i'm sure someone can answer.
I've just bought a Sony head unit it has a front 3.5mm aux in
but also has a rear 3.5mm input which is blue, the manual says its (remote in) is that remote aux as in a remote location. Or for some sort of remote?

you can also use a ir remote control with this unit so i don't see why there would be a remote control input. But maybe its for something completely different

any clues motors?

The rear aux is for when you want to use an mp3 player but you want to put that mp3 player in the glove box or somewhere nice and neat with no cable running from the front of the unit. It does the same as the front aux in but enables you do run a cable to a remove location.

Would like to upgrade the OEM stereo in my car for something better (Pioneer DEH-4300UB mentioned elsewhere in this thread seems ideal for my needs), but it looks like such a faff I don't think I can be bothered. Anyone have any experience fitting aftermarket units to Peugeots with multiplexed wiring?

From what I can gather, not only do you have to source an ignition live from somewhere else in the car (because Peugeot replaced it with a can-bus data wire), but you also have to take the car to a dealer and have the BSI reconfigured to stop it looking for the factory stereo. Seems if you don't do this step then it starts doing weird nonsense like stopping the central locking on the car from working. Ridiculous. :/
