Dolphins and all that claptrap.

I've had this head unit for near ten years, since I bought my first car. It's been faultless and works perfectly to this day.

Was quite expensive at the time, and now works with a FLI amp, Focal 165CA1 (Fronts) and Alpine SPG-17C2 (rears). Also with a CB100II iPod adapter.

No plans to change it - still works great.

Admit it. You're trying to get rainbow colours on your dashboard.

Pioneer DEH-P77MP. Won't ever sell this one, lovely SQ for the money.

This was my first headunit, and I kept it for years. I loved it - this would have me tempted to try and find another if they ever had iPod/BT functionality :(

I then had one of these, also thought it was cool but lacks the sheer elegance the Pioneer unit had.

Now have one of these:

Factory unit with upgraded DVD nav and DSP audio option, binned the cd multichanger and installed the Intravee with Ipod connectivity. It's not super fast in operation but adequate. The 10 speaker setup is pretty good with rich base and clear highs. Can't really upgrade it much without drastically changing the aesthetics of the cabin though.

My headunit in my 08 zafira.

with Igo primo installed (latest maps)

has built in harddrive for storing your music from disc (copy from disc)

all the steering functions work perfectly. IMO its better than a factory fit system.

Matches the dash quite well, shame the buttons aren't slightly darker (to match your heated window/aircon/recirc buttons), they stand out a bit too much.

tbh they Don't look bad in RL, I can change the colour of the back light to match the car though.

Hi guys,
Recently got my first car, Fiat Punto 1.2 MIA and i am looking for a new head unit. Been to the local halfords etc and seen some i like but i am just wondering what people on here would recommend for around £100 :)

EDIT:

Pioneer DEH-4300USB

Kenwood kdc-4551ub

Thanks again :) and Merry Christmas!

As a Pioneer fan-boy, I'd recommend the 4300UB. Although you can get much better deals going second hand. IMO new head units pale in comparison to those of 5 or so years ago.

Just to say, I've paid for another 'unit today. Details to follow when it arrives and is fitted. :D

Bought a JVC Chameleon through a sales thing on FB the other day. Thought i got a baregain at £15. Worked great but the faceplate lifting up/down when ejecting/inserting a CD was tempromental. Gave it back to the guy and put my £15 back in my pocket :(

That sucks! They don't have the best reliability record, unsurprising with all those motors whirling around.

Depending on the model, I would have stripped it and tried repairing it for £15. Some are more desirable than others, and unless they're complete they don't go for a lot.

It was an early one, there was no chameleon running across the screen on start-up! We opened it up to look for the problem. We figured out when the keypad retracted to let the face drop down, it wasn't picking up a 'signal' to say it was tucked away. There are three little sensors on the main board, one says when the keypad is out, one says when its moving back (at a guess) and the final one says when it is all the way back. We're guessing there is a problem with the one that senses when it is all the way back. We tried to move it a bit as it wasn't sitting square but it still had none of it. Shame :(
