The Witcher 2 - Thread

Just gave this a quick try and was a bit shocked, it plays quite differently (harder) than the Witcher:

-Combat with multiple opponents seems a lot tougher (no group style), I got taken out on my way to the Ballista right at the start of the game lol :)
-Seems to require the use of potions/traps/signs a lot more
-Something doesn't quite feel right with the graphics, everything is really shiny (excessive bump mapping?), a bit like Doom3?

I might actually consider trying this game with a controller due to the above comments by others, the need to Parry/Cast during combat makes it a bit fiddly with keyboard.

Got to agree on the graphics front, looks very shiny, since the controller support is pretty good going to play this as it shouldn't hurt my hands.

Had since launch, played 6 minutes i believe according to steam.

Yep patched to 2.1, I don't think I'm that bad at games, in The Witcher I probably only died maybe half a dozen times (other than the Beast fight). I think I just need to adjust strategy and get used to the different combat mechanic, in The Witcher you basically just have to choose the right sword/style and time your mouse clicks (no need for dodging or potions) and you breeze through most fights, in this you seem a lot more vulnerable to damage if you just charge in swinging.

witcher 2 I died a total of about 10 times in the entire game - all those deaths came at in the beginning chapter (not prologue) once you get the shield the game gets much less difficult.

and the graphics are lush, stop complaining.

Yeah you feel a lot more badass in Witcher 1 that is for sure.

i am thinking of giving this another go as I am between games atm and i'm getting a little bored with L.A Noire, but before I start can I ask, is there going to be any dlc for this? I might hold off if there is

There have only been two additional quests added to the game since its release: a launch day DLC called Troll Trouble, which appears in Chapter 1; and a quest called A Sackful of Fluff, which was added in patch 1.3 and appears in Chapter 2. Both quests were added seamlessly through the game's patcher, so if you've only recently bought/played the game, you might not have realised they were DLC quests.

The 2.0 patch added a new survival mode separate from the main game and a new, harder difficulty. Nothing in the way of significant story content has been added, though, and there hasn't been any announced plans for it either.

I've got this installed and ready. Just need to finish Deus Ex HR first.

Is importing my Witcher 1 character easy? I kept my last savegames before uninstalling TW1 and have copied them to the new PC...

I tried playing this game with an xbox controller but I found it FAR better with keyboard and mouse. Combat against groups requires moving the camera around quite a bit and I find controllers are really awkward for that, a mouse is so much quicker.

lol

My game crashes to desktop without an error 100% of the time I reach the end of the cinematic when you leave chapter 1 with the scoia'tel (if you chose to be with them)

Does anyone have any ideas that don't involve redownloading the game? : /
