The Witcher 2 - Thread

Just pre-ordered this on steam. I did complete the 1st ages ago but lost my save when I reformatted a year or so ago. I'm currently replaying it and have reached chapter 4 but I have exams :(. Completing it will have to take a back seat until they finish. It's going to be hard to resist the temptation to just skip finishing the first and move on to the second, especially if it's sitting in my games list.

Any idea on how big this game is to download?

About 9.5GB for the game.

Probably > 10GB once you include all the extra stuff available.

This, that bust is just **** ugly, pity as the rest of the stuff looks good.

Tbh I just want the premium edition but with the art book from the collector's :(

If it had been Triss' bust I would have been all over it but not his ugly mug :p

If you preordered on GOG.com, do you have to then purchase it aswell now?

It's been so long since I preordered it I honestly cant remember if there was a price on the preorder or not :S

The Witcher 2 can be had for close to £21 from online retailers, I would prefer to support to GOG directly and buy from them, though.

The Witcher 1+2 works out at £30 if you buy from GOG.com plus you get a free old school cRPG and loads of digital content from Collector's Edition of the Witcher 2.

If you care for the best price around:

Digital Download - Direct2Drive - £20.60 with SIZZLE code.

Retail - the Hut - £21.85 with BHB2 code.

BTW, the guy has an unjustified rant at the Witcher 2's prices but claims them to be much higher than they really are... I agree that DLC content on day 1 is a joke, though.

Haha, looks like you got a mention "Mr. Krugga" on his blog, he picked up this post and replied to it :p

Nah, just kept track of his blog and where its being linked to. I didnt realise that he was mentioning the us pricing and took it as the base for the uk pricing as well. After all we can get the collectors edition for £65 from the hut and that is going to have a very limited interest anyway. Normal edition is less than £25 at most places, even at amazon and digital version is below £30 too (steam, d2d, gog).

For once were not the ones getting ripped off, lol.

Video games, mobile phone contracts, cable, broadband, healthcare and education... Poor Americans :(

Hadn't heard of the retailer exclusive Day 1 DLC. That is a ******* ripoff. My respect for the devs has just disappeared :(

Do a Google search, it's not DLC (as has been said in this thread).

It has nothing to do with the devs, it's the retailers that forced the publisher to include some extras with their versions, they vary by a pack and are not (afaik) going to be available for purchase.

The packs are useless and not part of the game so no worries there. Unless you were really interested in having an elven armour +5 from the start, that is ;)

"containing additional finishing move animations and additional advanced fighting techniques"

Well that sounds a little more significant than a piece of armour.

It is a real shame that they are offering all these different DLC packages from day 1. Any idea if it is the publishers that push this crap?
