The Witcher 2 - Thread

Im so gutted about the lack of preload on steam. I chose steam because like someone else has said I really hate having separate clients for my games. Its bad enough with the EA one...

I would have bought it off GOG if they allowed their keys to be merged with steam.

true say!! :( but then again a few extra hours isnt gonna kill us! LOL what am i talking about!!! im going to be crying!!! :(:(:(:(

Just got it from GOG there. I'll forfit the physical copies as long as the developers get the money. I must say I am very pleased with the gog servers, much much better than steam. 26Mins for the whole game. Steam goes up and down faster than a ***** knickers ;) It's nice to see they put up decent servers.

26 minutes to download 9gb? You realize how much I hate you right now? Infact, if I ever see you, I'm going to beat the living snot out of you. Thats how angry you make me.

*goes back to downloading at a whopping 700kb/s* :(

Why would you choose Steam over Gog, I don't know.

Gog is totally DRM free and doesn't require a client to download the game which is its main advantage.

It's currently the best digital distribution platform out there and ****es over the pirates and their crap.

all my games are on steam so would like to keep on 1 platform.

That's still better then my download speed. I get a whole whopping 426kb/s :(

The funny thing is I'm one of the fastest download speeds in my area :o My friend gets 140kb/s :D

How so?

I can name atleast 20-30 gog games that were pirated :o

But they were pirated before, so it's irrelevant.

GoG doesn't help pirates because they've already gotten their prey. It does respect gamers by giving them a hassle-free experience and freedom of using the software they purchase.

Because steam is awesome? I don't know.

I pray for you, I really do. That must be so tough to live with.

Stay strong.

So what if its DRM free, I dont care. I've bought the game, I can unlock and play it. Means sweet FA to me.

Edit

Looking at their games catalogue though... It is tempting to make an exception of having a 3rd client ><
Maybe someone will develop an app like pigeon which integrates them all.

Once you download the installer, you don't need any client to play the game or install it for that matter.

In fact, you don't need any client at all, iirc.

Advantage over Steam? You can play on as many PCs at once, as you like. Make of it what you want.

I like where this is going

I'm not gonna argue the point, just trying to acknowledge that supporting GoG supports the developers directly and there are no disadvantages of having the game on GoG and IMO it is a superior distribution channel to Steam for having the cheaper version of the game (£3 you can spend on another title), DRM-free (not much of a problem with Steam, I agree), a free game (on top of the savings), some digital extras and the obvious advantage of supporting the devs.

You talk about supporting the developer then you come up with this... ok w/e

I only need to play on one pc at once. I dont have a magical second head :P
