The Witcher 2 - Thread

Just so you know The developers are going to target pirates like the musiccompanies do

http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/11/23/cd-projekt-say-witcher-2-pirates-will-face-fines/

I dont see the point of pirating a game from a small company like this. This is only there second game just support them

I use SSL so very unlikely I'll get targeted

Anyway you know I've bought the game right? :p

I can't play it tomorrow because of the silly Steam unlock time.

Dont get me wrong ive done the same thing plenty of times when ive purchased the game on steam and want to pre load it now. I just thought it was a warning to some people that they might get caught even if there are no bad intentions

My copy from game dispatched today too. I will likely either be in bed when it arrives and miss it, or it wont be here until Wednesday.

only if you buy from GOG.

Direct2Drive unlocks at 12 am PST so 9 am BST as well.

ahhhh kk. does anyone here know why steam is unlocking this soooo late? :( i have a feeling CD procket included this in their terms tbh thinking their sales from GOG will be higher

USA tends to get everything out on Tuesdays, usually in the morning. It will be 9am PST when The Witcher 2 unlocks, time when all big sales start on Steam.

As far as I know, non-GOG versions are published\distributed by Namco.

No, they aren't. Go to the Witcher's Steamstore page.

Developer: CD Projekt RED
Publisher: CD Projekt RED

CD Projekt is the exclusive publisher of this game.

ATARI was a Western publisher of the first one.

EDIT: pardon me, ATARI is still the publisher in NA but CD Projekt is responsible for the game in Europe (apart from Russia that is :D).

Got a feeling the copy from amazon will arrive wednesday morning :(

Amazon have been truly awful with this release. Dozens of people have had their copies shipped prior to the weekend from various other e-tailers, yet Amazon have barely made any dispatches three days later. So much for pre-ordering in the hope of being able to play it on day of release.

I am actually hoping that my copy from Amazon comes in a few days.
I have been playing a bit more of The Witcher. I have just started Act 3. It's pretty good.

I am enjoying it, but sometimes i am really pulling my hair out over the dialogue. It must be very poorly translated. Half the time i am having conversations with people and then the journal will pop up saying that it means this or that and i'm thinking  "thats not what he said!":p

For example(not really a spoiler) in act 2 you are supposed to be eliminating suspects from your investigation, i spoke to some guys and then it pops up "you should tell **** that you have proved his innocence" and i was like "wtf, thats not what i got from that convesation!!" LOL:)

It is a good game, but this story could have been told in a much better way, and with a little bit more finesse, then i would love this game

How long would you say i am from the end considering i play it on fairly easy?

You're about half way if I remember correctly, maybe two thirds. Still a good bit to go :)

I do agree that sometimes things could have been better translated but sometimes that added to the charm of the game, sort of lending to it being set in a mythical land where everything, right down to the language was different.

Also, cheers Thundy for cleaning things up.
