The Witcher 2 - Thread

My Amazon order has been, just got the email a few minutes ago :)

I've been searching through various HDDs for my old Witcher 1 saves but I can't find them anywhere, I wanted to import it! I'm not sure there's enough time to complete it again before tomorrow...

Did anyone have a look at the screenshots? There is a couple of sex scene pictures and now I know why it was censored in Australia. :p

Edit : NSFW

I'd hate to be the guy doing the animation for this. hahaaha. Can just imagine him watching porn all day... or was this mocapped?

So totally weird. :D

Turning 18 in 2 weeks...

Would rather get a physical copy but the damn I.D checking game store clerks would be on me like a rash.

It seems that Game/HMV are selling W2 for £25 and Steam is currently selling it for £30...

What's up with that? I'd just buy it on Steam if there wasn't any price difference.

Hadn't even heard about this game until a few hours ago, but reading some previews and watching some gameplay footage has completely sold me!

They really have tighted up with ID checking. I remember buying GTA3 when I was 15 with no problem whats so ever. Maybe it was the zz top beard I had going on when I was 15 that made me look older.

Actually, I find having a beard always bypasses the ID check. When ever I am clean shaving, I sometimes get checked but when I have a full grown beard, never.

For some reason I thought release was today. I logged on to GOG.com to download the last part of the game, then I realised I was a day early... gutted!

Collectors edition just landed - it is EPIC - even the box is epic - i'm not afraid to say i might have got teary-eyed ;)

Haven't opened it yet but can post a pic or two of the package if anyone wants..

I have my hard copy of this now, got from Tesco's yesterday. What time is it playable tomorrow, activation and all that ?

So, for those with steam... most of us won't be able to play this game untill the 18th. The game comes out at around 3pm tomorrow.. 14gb download = about 6-10 hours for me.

should have bought a retail copy but I thought I was going to be able to pre-load.

Is no pre-load confirmed? That's really going to screw me over if so, I won't get back till 4 and then my net will start to get capped until 9. FFFFFFFFFF.

As far as i know no one can play it yet - even retail copies won't play until tomorrow but i could be wrong - just with retail copies we are admire and touch the box :) ha ha

EDIT - i thought COG had a pre-load ?

GOG have the rights to pre-loading.

Ha ha haven't actually opened the box yet, the collectors edition weights a metric ton but the art etc on it is awesome and really sets the stage for the main event also as a side note the box itself says over 40 hours gameplay and that is only the main plot so we could be look at 100+ for everything and that my friend is what makes CD Projekt win dev of the year !

I really hate when devs feel they need to put how long the game is on the box. Is that really a selling point? How many of those hours are spent walking about towns and dungeons doing nothing? 40 hours of what exactly?

Why, it's their game. You should have bought it with them :p

By the way, it's GOG as in Good Old Games, not cog.

But I hate buying online games with other services apart from steam.

oh and TW2 is only 9gb? I read it was like 14gb. Well thats not too bad. Should take max 5 hours to download. :/

Yeah i'll admit it is a little odd but i do think it is important to some people, they like to see they are getting a good deal but i do wonder how they measure do they just ask someone to play it and tell them how long it took them ?

Don't get your hopes up with the length of the game. Our local Finnish gaming magazine called Pelit had their review up last week (93/100, generally very positive review, combat is much improved, it reeks of atmosphere but the game felt rather linear and the main character gets ridiculously powerful towards the end, making the game easy even) and it took 24 hours for the main plot + some of the side quests, though he admitted to skipping side quests whenever possible. The reviewer was also the first journalist in the world to complete the game :)

I know it is his job to finish the game as quickly as possible but anyone other gamer should be be playing RPGs this way. Defeats the purpose really :S
