The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

If it is as good as or better than Witcher 2 then I'm happy to pay full price. I'm even tempted to break my never pre-order rule.

If I was not at work during release I might be tempted to break the same rule, but as it stands I'll have a week or so to gauge just how well Geralt's beard is growing before I pitch in with some hard earned cash.

Please let there be a fully functional SLI profile on release...

Where's the best place to buy this so that I'm supporting the Devs as much as possible?

GoG

(Good old Games)...

But I have preordered mine from Amazon for about £15 cheaper. Something I really don't get and can't stand about all these DRM and/or online download services such as Steam, Origin, GoG etc, is how titles on these platforms are generally always the most expensive way to buy a specific game.

They don't have any DVDs. They have no need for packaging. They have no need for the logistics of shipping physical copies of the game about the place. None of the wages involved in all the various stages of conventional retail, etc etc.

So I've just seen the minimum required specs for Witcher 3 and decided my 4 year old setup need an upgrade as I want to run this game smoothly, been thinking of upgrading my CPU/GPU/Motherboard and maybe RAM to do this. Been thinking of a i5-4690K and 970 combo.

Any Ideas?

Unless you have read somewhere that The Witcher 3 needs/thrives on 8 logical cores, then you have absolutely no need to upgrade your i5 2500K.

GPU is way more important.

Take the official 'specs' with a grain of salt. Don't go burning your money on stuff that isn't much better than what you already have. If your main concern is gaming then any amount of money invested on any CPU/Mobo/RAM combo is going to feel like money wasted when you experience the end results.

If I was in your shoes, I would wait until the R9 390X hits in mid June. That means 1 month of not playing The Witcher 3.

I suspect that the only single GPU that will be able to truly be able to max out The Witcher 3 with 60 FPS at 1080p will be the Titan X.....but who in their right mind wants to pay 1K for a bloody gpu? It is likely that the 390X will match the Titan X performance and at a much lower price point. If you like to make your GPU last as long as possible, then you may as well do it right, and get the very best and most future proof card that you possibly can (without letting yoruself be totally ripped off by greedy Nvidia).

Just upgraded my AMD x6 1090t 3.2 to amd 8350 x8 4.0ghz hoping this will run nice and smooth and look great.

Cant wait for this i loved the witcher 2, got the collectors edition pre-ordered from GAME. Huge nerd out when this turns up

Thoughts on how this will run on my current spec?

i5-2500 (non K)
16GB RAM
GTX 750ti OC

I'm aware that I'm just about sitting at the minimum requirements, so was tempted to grab at least a new GPU, but not sure if it's worth upgrading my CPU too? Even if it's just picking up a second hand 3570k/3770k and keeping the same motherboard?

Doubtful you'll be able to play with any real enjoyment, you want to get immersed how the developers intended and that'll involve most settings being up high. I would go with the 3770k and O/C it but you'll need a good GPU as well perhaps a 780/ti?

Just wait until release, see how it plays on your computer, if its disappointing, then buy a GPU at that point. Or hold out for the new GPUs in June.

Not really much point speculating over whether or not it will run well.

Maybe start saving your pennies now in the run up then treat yourself to that new card :P

I couldn't wait for release to be disappointed with 15/20fps and have to wait even longer for a new card to arrive to start playing it. I've just upgraded myself, you could always keep waiting to see how good the next card coming up will be. Carpe diem.

It is a tough one, I am getting the 780 at the start of May, but waiting till June might be the smarter option to see prices drop and the prices of these new cards....... what to do what to do lol
