The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

hmm just seen the expansion pass on Steam for this

thought they weren't doing paid DLC

i guess its not too bad if it offers 30+ hours of game-play

DLC is free.

2 expansions confirmed 1st one due October offering around 10hrs and the second is due april 2016 and that's 20hours.

Dunno what to feel about this... I don't get why they're announcing it now, the game isn't even out yet and has been delayed multiple times. The first expansion doesn't come out until October, announce it a few months before or something... I'm worried, but hopefully the game will be great.

I’m quite happy knowing they have more planned and don’t really see any reason to be concerned with an announcement now, with all the shoddy journalists and cretins you get on the internet surrounding the game industry it’s no wonder CDprojekt want to be open.

Alternative could be ‘leaked info on content’ which would no doubt result in people saying ‘their releasing the game in three parts’ or ‘they lied about DLC being free’ and a whole load of other stuff based on very little.

Also no incentive to buy with horrible practices like ‘if you don’t buy the season pass NOW you will miss out on content in the main game forever’, I also hope the game is great but even if it isn’t at the very least the company have tried to conduct themselves better than most.

I have no probelm with DLC or exspansions. If I like a game, i'm happy that they sell me another 10-20 hours experiance for about 10-15 pounds. They get to use the same engine and focus on story and gameplay, I get to prolong the experiance of a game I have enjoyed.

The problem with a lot of DLC these days, and this is exactly what CD Projekt are saying, is that a lot of DLC is a cash grab giving us barely anything extra and then developers try and dress it up and charge us for it. CD Projekt have stated that they will release small DLC, but it will be free.

Actuall proper exspansions can only be good, worst case you don't like the game so you don't bother with the the exspansion.

Also, I like what CD Projekt said at the end of the interview - but Iwiński urged gamers who aren't comfortable with paying for the expansions up front to wait. "Don't buy it if you have any doubts," he said. "Wait for reviews or play The Witcher and see if you like it first."

It obvious of course, but's it's nice not having a developer trying to shove extra content down my throat with the old "buy now and get more" ********.

They are just letting you know that they are developing new content. Not sure what there is to be concerned?

The game is finished and going through Q&A, what are the designers, programmers and artists meant to do in their spare time?

Don't be worried. This is exactly how a studio should handle releasing a game / announcing future work etc.

Be thankful there is no "Beta tests" where they then mess everything up and don't actually listen to anyone, have a day one patch that is bigger than the game, have a billion micro transactions etc etc, have a planned "season pass" for things that should already be in the core game or is just easy spin off bits.
