The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I've just downloaded the Witcher trilogy (currently £7.50 on steam)

The combat style on Witcher 1 is not what i was expecting at all, is Witcher 3 the same?
The first one takes some getting used to as it's turn based with a bit of timing required. 2 and 3 are real time and feel much more modern and action orientated rather than hardcore PC RPG.

1 Is an 18 year old game, so you can't expect much

2 (14 years old) is really good story, graphics and music but its a bad console port - bad controls, walking at right angles, invisible walls and linear in some places

3 Although now 10 years old is probably the best video game ever made and I can overlook its flaws There are lots of mods to iron out niggles and customise the game. Make sure for 3 you download the recent Halk Hogan texture pack from Nexus mods website

Personally I wouldn't bother with 1, 2 is worth a play, 3 will keep you entertained for over 100 hours+

I think 1 is worth sticking with because the story is good, but if you really don't get on with it then just wait for the remake

I haven't been able to get into this even trying multiple times, not sure why, one thing I find which may be how the game is, even at 80-90fps the controls seems sluggish and I find it a bit difficult to get used to. There seems to be a slight delay when moving no matter what graphic settings I use.

There's an alternative movement option in settings which helps a lot, (although I'm not sure if that's in the vanilla game or if it's from one of the many mods I'm using)

Thanks, I tried that setting and it helps a bit, I think I just need to get used to it, think it's more the slight delay\inertia when starting to move and stop. I'll try with M+K and controller and see which works best.

I did find that if I switch off the camera auto centre and change the camera views from close to default this helped as well.

Witcher 1 has the slowest start to any rpg I’ve ever played. Almost gave up but once you get past the first village it’s fantastic and I actually like the combat design for it.

I caved and added the DLC and restarted, found along with the changes above for control I prefer 3840x1660 widescreen on my 42" LG oled, giving me a wider field of view.

Is there any way to download my gog cloud save for Witcher 3 and use it with the complete edition but through steam?
I don't know as I don't use GOG, but you probably can. If all else fails you can download save games from Nexus and choose where you are at in your current playthrough https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/categories/21/ Won't be exactly the same, but you won't lose hours of progress and have to start again.

In GOG Galaxy, in the game screen at the top select extras and it's at the bottom, download cloud saves, I'm unsure if you could just copy them to steam though, worth a try

I ended up just downloading the whole game and it downloaded all my saves and then moved it to steam with no issues. Thx for the help.

GOG inexplicably limits cloud save storage space and pesters you if/once you go over. I've only completed W3 once and still have to delete some saves to make GOG happy. Bought Cyberpunk on Steam to avoid this (a much better game all-round imo :)), although I now hear CDR auto delete saves on Steam versions, presumably not to offend GOGgers. Annoying penny pinching.

starting to really get into this now, only at level 11 and completed the Baron quest, and on easy as I like the story but once you get used to the controls and weapons\spells it's a lot of fun. Horse control is a bit of a pain sometimes though.
