The Witcher-Official Thread

Sorry if i sounded a bit sarcastic, welsh sense of humor , pre ordered the game and looking forward to it tbh, would have missed it if it wasn,t for this thread being started

Was gutted over gothic 3 and fingers crossed this gonna be a good one :D, playing Sacred at the moment waiting for the postman to deliver it on the 26th, the video,s look realy good :)

I love playing Bulders Gate and expansions so i know these guys can make dam good games /salute ;)
We seem to have the same taste in games and I was also gutted by the crapfest that is Gothic 3 considering G2 was one of my favourite games. For me there have also been a couple of other RPG disappointments so they way I look at I am about due some RPG payback.

Its good to see others here with similiar tastes in rpgs. Chalk me up as another who appreciated the older rpgs like fallout, Baldur's Gate, Planescape:Torment etc :)

And yeah, the last few years have been a string of disappointments. Also waiting on my copy of The Witcher, hopefully tomorrow, as its been shipped.

Nice 1 Ozzie, dont think mine will ship till tomorrow so should be here friday if the postman is on the ball:cool:. Dont forget 2 tell us your first impressions about the game :D

Gonna dig out gothic2 and start warming up i think :p. Thats the only game i can think of thats worth playing tbh, just hope the first 3 or 4 mobs dont kick my head in lol, its been a while ;)

Thanks for the links Neil, after spamming sword attacks in Gothic 3 the combat system looks a nice change of pace :p, as i got athritis my hands aint gonna cramp up after 10 mins lol :D

Still looks a nice game and will report back with impressions when it drops on the mat friday i hope :)

Mine arrived this morning, didnt have a chance to install and play yet because i had to goto work. Cant wait to get home now though, roll on 4pm !

Wow - looks very impressive. Is it seamless world though? Is there loading when entering buildings or new areas? Black loading screen etc?

Combat - is it a case of spam the left mouse button or is it more "Severance" ?

camera modifyable? also is there a toolset for the game? (ie camera hacks) can you create quests, modules and stuff?

Seamsless world , no... Going in the inn and it loads , going in one of the village huts and it loads tbh it loads too much sometimes in going to different areas.

Combat its a case of click at the right time , though im using the high threshold viewpoint.. You left click to attack then you wait till the sword icon appears again and hit again , if the sword icon turns into a flaming sword you can do flaming sword hits. You can hit without the sword icon ready but it says " TOO FAST ". Holding right mouse button and you block , it has different styles too Slow for heavyies / Fast for quick enemies and the Group attack for hitting more than one enemy in a group. Btw you can do hit combo's aswell as knock downs and spells.

Camera is modifyable but it does get in the way sometimes in tight areas.

Toolset yes however i haven't used it

I was just looking at videos about this game :) it looks quite cool.

On the video I saw, the dev said it was based on the aurora nwn engine, only 90% of it had been recoded.

Hopefully it isn't another nwn2 as I played that 1/3 of the way thru after it was released, but got annoyed at all the bugs, like the camera etc :(

The screenshots look a lot like nwn2

As far as I know it is based on the NWN engine and not the NWN2 engine as they are different. There is a post earlier on in this thread. If it was the same awful engine as NWN2 I would not have ordered The Witcher without a demo. From what has recently been posted from those playing the game it appears to run fairly well.
