The Witcher series (Netflix)

He has publically stated in the past that he would stay as long as they stay true to the source material.
They haven't and he has left. Does not seem like much of a jump or guess, given that was Cavill's own statement.

He won't be able to come out and say much more right now or risk alienating himself from future projects, and potentially NDAs.

That is just fan guessing really, there is nothing to suggest that was actually the reason. Cavill has said nothing.
Hmmm nah, theirs been a few interviews and even last week one circulating about if they moved away from the source material he would leave. Before that he said about doinbg about 7 seasons if the source material was respected. Seems after season 2 he seen that wasnt happening, like, at all, contract for another season then bailed.

Or maybe he is a movie actor who has never commited himself to a multi year role before and now wants to do something else, like every movie actor does.

The fear of Cavill choosing to leave after a 2 or 3 seasons is exactly what a lot of people raised when he was first cast in the role. Now what everyone said would happen, has happened.

Trying to twist this into some 'source material' feminist conspiracy is making a lot of you look daft!

He made his name starring in a multi-year role with The Tudors?

I mean apart from him saying clearly he wanted to be there long term as long as they were faithful to the material?

Not really as that's exactly how the show has panned out. He'd have stayed had they stayed faithful to the source material, they haven't and he's out. Trying to pretend otherwise is simply not accepting reality.

Strongly suspect he's gotten fed up being a supporting actor in his own show. A real shame as I thought his portrayal of Geralt was excellent.

Exactly. They've taken the ****, and now Cavill has told them where to get off, and their show will sink without a trace. Let's face it, it wasn't amazing, and they've just lost the shows biggest draw.

The writing of the show has been crap, the last season was absolute turd.

Probably wanted to get out before it ruined his career

Funnily enough, the bits where they've stuck to the material that has been written for them it were really good, it's almost as if...

Ikr...

But no though, they know best, like RoP, stupid JRR Tolkien...what an idiot...

I am happy to watch their adaptations of classics instead because it is good for me, and I am stupid.

Yep, it was awful, the first episode had a (sort of) self-contained story which I really enjoyed, I thought it was a genuinely interesting and entertaining episode, I thought here we go they've picked their game up this is going to be good, and then it totally fell off a cliff.
