The Witcher series (Netflix)

Lenny Henry was surprisingly good

Contrary to a lot of people I thought he was OK in RoP but in Blood Origin I found him very 2D with lacking character depth - not helped by how the script just jumped his character in as needed with little development to that point.

Overall what let Blood Origin down was how much it leant on the already established lore, etc.

Yeah, I also thought he was fine in RoP, he just felt very "Lenny Henry" whereas as this felt like a distinct character.

I've enjoyed it but it wasn't compulsive TV. The first few episodes of Season 1 strongest but it does lose it's way a little in Season 2. I assume it's somewhat true to teh books, which I haven't read, but it has lost it's focus on the Witcher himself a little. If I have a Netflix subscrition after Season 3 has come out I'll probably watch it but it's not must have telly.

I've just finished reading the books and currently rewatching the series.
Some of it's close enough, but most of it is way off with events. Characters are mostly there only in name and nothing like the people they were written as.

It annoys me, yet I still find it entertaining enough to watch - just about...

Looks like they might be using some stories from the Hearts of Stone DLC. I take it that's Olgierd von Everec.

They're not officially using anything that originates in the video game. They have rights to the books, not the video games that were based on those books. Dunno whether Olgierd von Everec also appears in the books.

So hard to get hyped about this. Season 2 was an improvement over 1 but it can't be amazing otherwise he wouldn't have bailed.

i don't think he bailed over quality, he bailed over it not being true to the book, which he's a massive fan of. i think he was sold on it being a faithful adaptation then the paths diverged along the ways and he lost his passion for it.
