The Witcher series (Netflix)

:rolleyes:Just finished episode S3E5, can anyone who has read the books tell me if Geralts character follows the same path as this season? Secondly does slay that beast on the boat too? Lastly is the conclave the same as in the books.

Geralt seems to have gone really soft and his character seems very different to what I watched on season 1. Having watched all 5 episodes this is the worst season by far, story seems to jump all over the place.
Sounds like they completely emasculated the character now then :( I bet the myriad of strong female characters are even stronger though

He does fight a monster on a ferry but its very different to this if memory serves, Ciri isn't there though I don't think.

The conclave does happen similar to how it is portrayed.

Lots of it is just made up though.

So is it geralt that slays it on the boat or Ciri?
Geralt fights a aeschna in the water whilst working on the ferry as a witcher. I don't think Ciri is even present for that part. There's an academic from Oxenfurt arguing with Geralt about how aeschnas don't exist in the passage.

Why does the book use the name Dandelion and the series Jaskier?

There is some upset regarding the book not being fully implemented on the show but that one doesn't make sense to me.

My son refuses to watch it because of this and rumour has it that Henry Cavill is also a massive Witcher fan and left because he didn't like the way the show was going

I'm also reading the book just now and just past where Ciri meets the Unicorn, as it happens the little teaser at the end of the last episode showed that Unicorn.

It looked like a full size horse in that teaser but the book refers to it as a little pony type unicorn.

Found this:

Dandelion's original Polish name, "Jaskier", literally means "Buttercup", but was changed in the English translation because "Buttercup" sounded too feminine in English.

As usual the show writers have taken far too much liberty with the source material and produced something far inferior.

Thought overall these 5 were good. First and last were probably the best, loved the conclave. Agree with people saying there were a few notably dodgy green screen scenes though, especially one in a field.

I'm not really sure what I'm watching here over the first 3 episodes....

Wasn't this series called The Witcher? Because I'm not seeing much of The Witcher in it, doing Witcher things.

It's now called "weak, annoying, corrupt, evil, treacherous, emasculated men being out shined by honest, forthright, kind, gentle, strong, tenacious women"

What on earth have they done to this series. Oh hang on, the same that woke film and tv series production companies and directors have been doing for years. Thank god that Game of Thrones was created before this plague started running through our visual entertainment

I didn't find it that bad for that stuff, but it is definitely leaking through compared to season 1 and even 2 and not to the betterment of the show.

I didn't find volume 1 of season 3 too bad but it seemed more like a rehash of Witcher theme top moments thrown together without any real development. I can see why Cavill might have walked.

Yes, I’ve enjoyed these. Some questionable cgi at times.

Ciri is such an annoying character.

Particularly annoying this season just to keep the plot moving.

Have you read the books? Because you're complaining about things that happen in the books...

No. I've played the game and watched the TV series
Well you might have noticed that there aren't many sorcerers around in the games and that they've been replaced by the lodge of sorceresses. This is how it happens. But then again you also called them honest, forthright, kind, gentle, strong and tenacious so not sure you've been paying a lot of attention
