The Witness out tomorrow(reviews in)

Managed to smash through another three lasers today, really really enjoying this game.

Also discovered...

What the totem pole things are for! And now I'm constantly looking around for circles and lines... which are everywhere! The ones you can get from the boat are the sneakiest! It's like a whole nother meta game? Or is it part of the actual game?!

So confused, but loving every minute of it!

i never got the hang of those. Even when looking at the guide, I couldn’t find what I was supposed to do. But I didn’t discover them until near the end and I think my brain was frazzled by then so I never pursued it further.

Likewise. I got into the mountain and my brain was melted enough, so I gave up in there. Then I read about all that side of things and was like NOPE. You can have too much of a good thing.

Started this again after reading this thread. Will try the obelisks. But for now, does it get on anyone else’s wick that some of the puzzles deactivate power if you get them wrong and then you have to go back and redo the previous one? I don’t understand the need to have designed that whatsoever. It just spoils the rhythm you’ve built up and is just a waste of time.

Yeah that's defo a pain in the butt... I tend to take a lot of photos on my phone in case of this :D also printed out a bunch of grid patterns on paper so that I can draw things out physically! Haven't had to refer to a guide yet, but if I wanted to try and complete all the totems, I think I would have to!

Think I might have finally come across a puzzle that's gotten the best of me...

On the church door in the abandoned town...

I've figured out that you need to look at it through a color filter on the door of the opposite building... however it seems the puzzle is unsolvable, unless I'm missing something here (obviously I am!).

Please do not give me answers / clues, but lmk if you guys also found this one to be a PITA... or if I'm just being really thick :D

My friends and I are big Myst fans and have played many a puzzle adventure. However, we got about 2 maybe 3 hours in and gave up, just didn't get into it, largely boring.

I really liked it, and most of it was excellent in terms of being intuitive and really rewarding when you worked something out. There was just too much of it.

Also, **** the audio puzzles. **** them.

Yeah, I just had to cheat on the very last audio puzzle. Wasn’t getting it at all. :( just the one look up so far though with 3 lasers done.

Just done this one without any trouble so have another think. :p

Damn it :p

[edit]

Ok, I'm an idiot... had to go all the way back to the area where you learn that particular "rule", then realised I was trying to solve it incorrectly :D

Sorted after a few minutes - I remain guide-free and managed to turn on another laser. Almost on the verge of getting another one as well.

The one I need to go and revisit is the desert zone with the hexagon puzzles... that might be the one that breaks me!!

Chaps, a quick question re. the "end" of the game please...

I've accessed the top of the mountain, but haven't gone in yet. Will I have the chance to come back out again and take a crack at the totems and puzzles I haven't completed yet? Particularly I remember leaving a few unsolved ones under the windmill (and need to go back in and put some of the hexagon patterns I discovered into the movie theatre thingy. Just wondering if there is a "point of no return" if I keep going deeper into the mountain?Does this game even have a proper ending?!

Also re. the hexagons in the desert...

I was dreading this one, and just so happened as I walked into the area, I arrived at the right "angle" to see the solution to the first puzzle :D everything after this was pretty straightforward, although a bit of a pain in the ass trying to get the right angles - especially the room with the changing water level!

Cheers,

Su
