The world famous all-nighter thread. Please come on in...

That only works if you're one of those people that can just fall straight asleep. :(

Those of us that take 2 hours or so are stuffed. :P

I often find I can take half-hour to drift off if my body isn't desperate for sleep. If you're taking 2 hours to drift off, then you either have too much energy (just eaten chocolate, or drunk coffee etc), or you're just not tired. Try going for a jog 30 mins before you goto bed if it's energy related, and if it's not tired related, then don't goto bed.

Everyone's different, not everyone needs 8 hours, some people are naturally geared for 6, some 10. Listen to your body, and that can't be stressed enough. Same goes for hunger/thirst etc, listen to your body, give it what it's asking for. If everyone did that, this country would be so much healthier.

Or you could just do a robbie williams and drink 30 red bulls a day, and take sleeping pills when you want to sleep. No idea how he hasn't died yet, or he can think rationally.

I'm part of the club, 2 assignments due in tomorrow, not particularly long but need to wrap my head around it a bit. 5 hours to goooooooo, not to worried though, veteran :p

Just eaten some McCoys, so time to play some tunes and get crackin'!

oh god it's 3 am and i still haven't started :(

meh I reckon I can knock out 2 lab reports in an hour but doing the tut sheet is going to take at least 2-3 :(

Might have a quick nap, (only problem being it takes longer than the nap to fall asleep

Well, i was about to go to bed but you've spouted some cool stuff about sleep. Any links/decent books on this stuff you'd recommend, sounds pretty interesting and something id enjoy learning.

I'm not even intending to do an all nighter, but i have a bad sleep pattern from the half-term!

Bed at 6-7 up at 3-4! :p

But now i think i shall have to retire to my bed...school in themorning :(

good luck whoever is doing an all nighter!

EDIT: Before i go..

What happened to that thread last night, i watched it until about 1 hour 20 minutes in... and then went to bed. How much longer did it last? If you were up, you will know the one i'm talking about! :D

Don't do it dood! I did that once and found myself waking up at like 3pm, way past the deadline D: Plus i missed all the lectures and lab sessions that day.

Me = worlds heaviest sleeper.

I did this once, set an alarm which I slept through and woke up several hours later - leaving me completely behind schedule.

I've always been like that, doesn't matter how what i've done before bed, the only time i've ever fallen asleep within half an hour to an hour is the first night back after a week of 4 hour nights and full days of skiing. The worst thing about it is I am the worlds worst morning person, I find it impossible to get up in the morning because I haven't had enough sleep but once i'm up i'm fine.

It's not so bad now as at uni you don't have to get up much at 8 am but when I was at school it was rather annoying. Going to bed at 10 and not sleeping til 1-2am then having to get up at about 7:30. By the end of the week I was always knackered but it would still take the same amount of time to get to sleep, I would just sleep for 10-12 hours friday night...

I'm pretty certain I am a nocturnal beast as as soon as gets dark my knackeredness throughout the day disappears, usually when i'm just contemplating going to bed... That's why i'm hoping to get a job with wierd hours, so I can get up at noon.:p

Oh and now i'm off to bed, a nice warm and comfy bed for some beautiful sleep... ;)

Ugh, I'm dreadful at this and getting up in general. Taken to setting multiple alarms to wake up in the mornings (phone alarm + clock alarm).
