The Worst Official Controller

Stupid thread. Made me think of the power glove, now I want to watch the Wizard. Which can be bought for about £10 in NTSC or £50 in region 2... I guess with DVD player prices these days I could grab a multi-region DVD player and the film for less than a region 2 version of the film

i dunno i find all current controllers the same and easily playable with.

The NES or Master System have got to be in the top 5 worst controllers.

The Amiga CD32 Pad is surly a good contender for #1 ;)

worse one off the top of my head, is the Playstation controller, through all generations, compared to controllers on xbox/xbox 360 they feel so un-natural to hold and operate, plus the triggers on the sixaxis ones feel so flimsy and they have absolutely no mass at all, how the hell have they managed that? other than that is has to be that god aweful joystick on the atari, what a heap of crap those were

The Sixaxis tops my list for worst modern console controllers. I know there's a 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' ethos involved with Sony, but when the competition actually puts in the effort to evolve their designs and end up being more ergonomically and comfortably sound than yours, surely it would be a good idea to maybe consider revisions to keep up? The controller was a good idea five years ago but not anymore.

Anyone who hasn't said the Atari jaguar is wrong!

As it is the WORST in history, but I still love it (pats his Jag)

frickin hate the ps3 pad, it's like it's designed for 5 year olds with Arthritis (well at least 5 yr olds that use it are guaranteed to get arthritis later). It's far too small, the triggers are appalling, the analogue sticks and the d-pad need to be swapped round as trying to use the analogue stick with your thumbs leads to bending your thumb at an unnatural angle so that actually up is left, right is up, down is right and left is down , of course this is all reversed for your right hand. It weighs about as much as an empty packet of smarties and the battery lasts about 30 minutes. If an XBox 360 could actually stream media other than WMV files, I'd swap my PS3 in a heartbeat.

Quoted from Videora.
Does it support avi? Divx? Xvid? Quicktime? H264?
No. The Media Center Extender in the Xbox 360 only supports playback of DVR-MS, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and WMV video.

Sounds like old info to me, 360 has been able to stream DivX / Xvid for ages.

I use WMP11 sharing, not Videora though.

wow @ all the Playstation Pad votes, it's actually my favourite controller, I'm really not fan of ergonomically design controllers, I feel the same way about mice to, I like small, light, perfectly symmetrical mice/controllers, I like to hold them gently on the lower half of my hand, like finger mice which are less ergonomic compared with mice like the logitech g5 which is a palm mouse because it is designed to fill your hand like the 360 controller does.

Also after playing games like Flower I've grown to really appreciate having the motion/tilt sensors in the controller.

Yep agreed, anyone that says their pad was only lasting 30 minutes either has a broken controller or is exaggerating to the extreme, now that the Sixaxis/DS3 pads can 'auto-off' like the 360 controllers they last for days.

yes, was exaggerating but battery life is not good and the pad still sux.
