***The X-Factor Thread - ALL X-Factor Related Stuff In Here***

I've just realised that you are the drum teacher and that you would have more sense to come out with dross like that.
I blame your animosity on you having to look at the singers arse all through a gig.
You honestly believe that Matt Cardle and Rebecca are rubbish singers?
They may not be the best in the world but they've put a near faultless effort in every week.

Ok, I'll meet you halfway. Not rubbish, but they're average at best. Blimey, why are you half attacking me over some dumb talent show? ;) This is why I said people are getting so wound up over nothing. I'm entitled to my opinion, and it's not dross, it's pretty much fact. I said I watch the show with one eye open, never denied it, but I can't take any of it as seriously as you seem to.

Here's a quote from a great drummer I know who works with robbie williams, olly murs and will young. Even he agrees.

More recently you’ve worked with Will Young and Olly Murs. What is your take on the talent shows like X Factor and Pop Idol?

"It really annoys me actually. What is weird, working with Will, is that he was the first one and he watches it, we watch it and we all laugh. It’s a different thing now. Back then when Will did it, 9 years ago, it was a proper talent show. It wasn’t the massive, horrific, money earning TV show that it is now. That was the total beginning of it. I don’t like the fact that it is so shallow on every level; it’s about making money and not about peoples’ talent. It’s a side issue if they can sing or not and if you’ve got a funny haircut you’ve probably got a better chance."

Oh and, I love looking at the singers arse all through a gig. Assuming it's a female. :D

1) I'm 'attacking' you because as a musician you should know better and not come out with the rubbish you spouted.
I also blame it on you hitting things loudly that you can't actually hear properly.

20) I don't take it seriously but it is a funny talent show

3) I like how a drummer who works with 2 ex contestants of the X-Factor/Pop Idol and somebody out of a manufactured pop band is trying to stick up for his bosses when it has always been about manufacturing new artists and making lots of money.
It was no different then to what it is now and you've taken his paltry excuses in.

4) If Will Young is disrespecting the people who made him a star then he deserves nothing.

I've still no idea what most of them are called except mary, cher and one dimension.

You clearly still don't know who they are! :p

Where is now anyway?! Couldn't stand him!

I don't think One DIRECTION are that great singers - might be down to the fact that they are drowned out as someone on here has already said.

I think it should be:

Matt
Cher
Rebecca
One Direction

It will most probably be:
Matt
Rebecca
One Direction
Cher

Cher will probably still get something even if she doesn't win. I find Rebecca boring and wouldn't buy any of her records.

I'm not sure where it will go from here cause all four are marketable, maybe cher will "walk out" cough cough as she will most likely end up fourth. Don't think mat will win cause he is already profitable with little work, one direction won't get enough votes to win which leaves Rebecca, as good as she is, she needs the marketing boost of the show to make her more profitable, and listening carefully to the judges comments, she is the person they are "talking up" the most

I don't think even Lady Gaga's marketing team (who seem, right now, to be the best in the World), would be able to market Rebecca.

At the end of the day, Rebecca is a product. If the the product is unable to "big itself up", then no matter how much work the marketing team do, the product cannot become a huge success.

Look at this way: your marketing team will get you spots on tv shows and interviews on the biggest shows on TV, in a particular country. It is then up to the singer/performer/actor (or whatever), to do a good job in an interview. Rebecca has such low self confidence that she will struggle in to do this. In fact, I've seldom seen a fully grown woman with such low confidence. It almost defies belief.

A lot of people think that because you win XFactor and have a good voice...you got it made. Cowell understands this is not the case. To make a success of yourself, you have to be willing to do whatever it takes and put everything on the line. If memory serves me correct, Rebecca has a young child (correct me if I'm wrong). This would also compromise her. Cowell will know this as well.

Cher is probably the best candidate when it comes to doing whatever it takes and whatever she is asked to do.

The music industry is no place for a shrinking violet or the shy/retiring type. Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are 2 excellent examples of what is expected from a singer. Cowell will know this.

Rebecca is very dull, and tbh she does have a good voice, but it just seems to grate on me and i definitely could not listen to anywhere near an albums worth of her music.

I hear you but cowell is interested in money, if he can make 10m off Rebecca from winning and 15m from Matt in second, that would be preferable over Matt first taking 15m and Rebecca second and only making 2m because she didn't have the platform of the show.

Personally I think it's reached the stage where we know (or should hope) that the likes of Matt and Rebecca will get a recording deal anyway and therefore the actual winning of the competition would be better for One Direction as a kick-start to what seems (despite myself not liking them..but my girlfriend loves them..and Simon Cowell knows female cash when he smells it) to be a decent chance of becoming a biggish boy-band.

If Rebecca wins, she will no doubt probably get to No.1 with her first single. The XFactor show guarantees the first hit. But it does not guarantee future success (after a year). What makes you think that boring/dull Rebecca will be able to sell so many records, after a year, when everybody has forgotten about her?

Also, given that she has a child (someone please confirm this), is she even going to be able to put in the hard graft...working long hours?

.

This entirely off topic here, and I know I have mentioned her one or two times in this thread, however my wife used to sing in a band, does the odd bit of am dram in the local theaters , has scored the odd panto, plays piano and the guitar.................. she is the quietest most introverted person you could meet.

Get her in front of a microphone or an instrument or dressed up in panto and you wouldnt believe she is the same woman.

That Rebecca though seems to be dull and shy in real life AND dull and shy when she sings AND she is a dirty scouser.
