I've never taken this show seriously but this year it's become unwatchable for me. I'm embarrassed to say I use to enjoy it. It's become a complete parody of itself now and needs to be buried.

For me the only entertaining parts have been Ablisa in the auditions and Wagner in the live shows. I'll catch up with Wagner's performances on youtube in the future. No more live shows for me.

Utter dross.

Was Cher miming tonight ?? The first bit might of been live, but her rapping and jumping on the bike while singing was way to steady.

Also, there was lots of distance shots and panning so not to reveal it.

Whatever the view of the show, I think that no one can deny that Matt Cardle is an amazing singer. Tonight he was just in a different league.

Yup - stunning performance.

Sadly... as I seem to be her only fan... I think Katie will go tomorrow. Her, along with Cher and Mary put in the worst performances. I don't count Wagner as he'll be there next week regardless. Honestly, he could come out sing naked, murder a song and rape the judges... (there's a thought) but the public find it funny to keep him in.

Personally, I'd vote off One Direction who I hate with a passion, smarmy bunch of little ******.

i hate the program with a passion but it still makes me laugh every week watching people who cant sing be put thru this crap so slimy little ****ers like Cowell can rinse the money in!

but i have to agree Matt is a different class to everyone, if he doesn't win it this year then its without a doubt shown this crappy excuse of a talent show is a utter fix!

I just can't stand to watch Aiden gurning any more, what the hell is wrong with him every 5 seconds the corners of his mouth try to touch the floor?!

Matt is good and I still like Cher, Treyc I enjoyed tonight as well, and they finally put her in a dress that didn't make her arse look massive.

Not really. A lot of it was out of tune.

Gotta agree with this, i dont know what was going on last night but i enjoyed very few of the performances, to me Matt's performance just reeked of "ok you were garbage last week, bring on the tears this week and your laughing"

I think i cringed through most of the show....and what the hell is going on with the gurning competition, are Aiden and Cher having their own private Gurn-off?

At this moment i think i am rooting for Wagner as he is the only one putting in entertaining performances, yes he's carp but still funny, also thought Treyc did a good job too.

Funnily enough I've had that impression too a couple of times this series - there is definitely a stronger backing track than in previous years. The backing track has drowned out one direction a few times towards the end of their songs. And last night I swear the asian lad missed his cue and the vocal continued...

But we both can't be right because Castiel said...

Castiel, your views on Matt's version of Bleeding Love please? I suppose he was bang in tune with that as well?

I didn't particularly like it, but I don't think you know what 'out of tune' is however, as he has been pretty much note perfect consistently.

There is a difference between not liking someone's vocal range and style and stating they are a bad singer.

You may not like male falsetto, but that doesn't mean he isn't a highly gifted singer.

Quoted for the truth it is - the guy was simply amazing last night, what a stunning performance. I really hope this guy goes far in the competition, sadly I don't think he'll win as my money would be on Rebecca Ferguson. As for tonight's knock out, I'm really hoping it'll be Aiden Grimshaw. I dont know how he's lasted this long as he's utter carp! :(

If I were a betting man, my money would be on Matt Cardle, simply because he is the best singer of the bunch, but also his singing ability is acknowledged by all those who listen.

It must also be noted that just because you win XFactor, your stardom is not guaranteed. XFactor will (almost) guarantee that your first single goes to No.1. What happens after that is down to you. The best example is of this is Michelle McManus, who was overweight and unmarketable. She won and her first single made No.1, but after that, she vanished without a trace as record companies knew that inorder to sell records you need more than just a good voice. Steve Brookstein is another great example.

Similarly, just because you don't win does not preclude you from having a successful music career. JLS and the young lady whose name escapes me from 2 years ago, did not win, yet have been doing well in the charts recently with No.1 singles to their name.

For me, even if Cardle wins, he will have to bring something new and exciting to the table in order to have a successful music career. We have seen far too many male artists with good voices, bring nothing new to the table and as a result, vanish without a trace.

One important thing is that the artist needs to be in the media spot light as much as possible. This generates a buzz and a lot of interest. People who haven't heard of these people will then learn about them and are likely to seek out their music. All this increases the chances of their records being bought and their tours selling out.

Personally, I can't see how Cardle (or Ferguson) are going to generate the sort of publicity required for a long career.

Leona Lewis has one of the best voices I have heard in the last few years. Her problem though is that she doesnt get up to antics which end up in the newspapers. We don't see her leaving a night club, drunk with her boobs hanging out. We don't hear of her having affairs. We don't hear anything about her. For these reasons, despite her great singing voice, her songs don't seem to do as great as they could.

The best examples currently of artists making the media work for them are Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Cheryl Cole. These are 3 very clever people, who are very calculating and know exactly what they are doing.
