***The X-Factor Thread - ALL X-Factor Related Stuff In Here***

Actually, it's only now that the previous season contestants are released from contractual obligations to the show and producers and can do an album on their own.

In other words, after initial big tour and tv spots, as the last season becomes distant memory contracted artists and bands end up in places like Brighton Gala Bingo, with just a tiny ray of hope that once they are set free they will be able to negotiate full album contract with some label. Most will sink like Titanic though.

What do you mean? The winners are signed to Simon's record label Syco Music.

But have to do year of chores for X-Factor before they record albums for Syco, Sony, Epic or any other label.

Leona Lewis, wins in December 2006, release first album November 2007
Leon Jackson, wins in December 2007, release first album November 2008
Alexandra Burke, wins in December 2008, release first album end of October 2009
Joe McElderry, wins in December 2009, will release first album around last week of October this year

For most of the "second" and "third" place runners, that year when they first do national X-Factor Live tour, and then as the interest dies out get sent to B and C grade s***holes like Amadeus nightclub under M2 bridge in Rochester (true story, factual venue for the X-Factor fallout), it's pretty much end of career. Whatever happens to those Andy Abrahams, Journey Souths, Ray Quinns, Ben Mills', Same Differences and such - that "tour year" becomes a gap year pretty much sinking their careers forever.

hmm you paint a depressing picture there v0n however it's no different to how these people were before the x-factor. The music industry doesn't owe them a living due to having been an x-factor contestant everyone knows unless you are an amazing singer or an oddity (jedward) then you simply will vanish.

Just like these x-factor winners who go on to release cover albums as their first solo albums..

In the interests of pedantry I'd like to point out that all our genes originate from Africa.:)

my genes come from Levi's...

Ok ok it works better when you say it.... :o ;)

I'm still gonna watch X factor on sunday mornings it passes 25 mins while I have brekkie.

Never watch the 2 hour extravaganza that is on on Saturday with 55 mins of ads ;-)

Watch them sing and judge's comments usually takes 25-30 mins to watch.

So, which of the 'stars' do you think were planted by the judges?

it doesnt take a genius to work out that simon et al probably had a few of these guys on their books and simply invented the show as a way of intro ducing them to the public whilst at the same time making money from doing it.

Its only the big ones that will do well Leona for sure her tour this year was a sell out at all venues, enjoyed seeing her live at Birmingham in June awesome night, only other one i think that will do well is Alexandra Burke.

A 2hr 30min live extravaganza on ITV tomorrow.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of reaction Cheryl gets. I can see the crowd venting their thoughts when Cher and Weasel perform.

I can't believe I'll be spending 4hr 25mins watching SCD and X Factor one after the other tomorrow night! :o

What a shocking twist that was!!:rolleyes:

Amazing that all of them were at home. The gay duo were also in the same house at the same time. Amazing.

I hope this is going to be an absolute car crash tonight. :)
