The X-Files is reopened!

Season one on US Netflix is really good quality considering the age. I shall re watch them all, up until Mulder leaves, as the seasons become available in HD. May as well bin all my DVD box sets as I won't take a step backwards.

Cannot wait for the new stuff. Seeing as it's only 6 episodes I hope they stick to the alien/conspiracy story arch.

Saying that though, I don't know how they could continue it?

Given how the last season ended (a very affirmative "last" episode) and with invasion date 12/2012 already long gone, I don't know how they could get out of it without resorting to some silly convenient writers gymnastics.

In my experience, old shows which make a comeback for a short season never quite work

I think they 'work' in the sense that they will get good ratings almost irrespective of how good they are, with a short season being the ideal format because by the time they get found out, the series is halfway through at least.

The key is making sure you cash in then and there because once you've done it once, the window of opportunity has passed.

I passed on X-Files back in the 90's as geek TV. What made it even more uncool is that my brother watched it, who was a geek. But I was a young teen who didn't get smacked upon the head enough and told to stfu.

My mistake was remedied in my late late late 20's when I binge watched the whole series but ehh.. series 8 and 9 were side watched while I did something else like reading a forum.

I'm sure X-Files is in my top 5 though.

I hope they take a step away from the alien conspiracy thing, it went a little OTT and lacked the beliveabilty of it in a way, but it did provide a great undercurrent for it.

Let's hope they don't bring back creepy creepy Tombs, man he freaked me out.

Here is a sneak preview of 2 scenes from new X-Files in 2016 started from 0:28, the first scene I believed is CSM stand in a hangar and the second scene see Mulder and Scully armed with guns opened door walked into a room.

Watched the trailer on my phone on my commute and also had the hair stand up on my neck. I was a huge fan of the show in the early days but never revisited it and lost all interest when Mulder left.

I'll be watching this...

In addition to this piece of good news, there is evidence now for the blu-ray boxset coming possibly this December. A fan posted link which showed that the blu-ray boxset was awaiting certification in Australia for an estimated release of 9/12/15. Obviously the release will make its way here in Europe and the US likely as well, so going by the Australian date this hopefully means good things.:)

Worth watching the originals all over again? Only seen a few but enjoyed it.

The first few series are good (says my teenage memory), but the last series, and esp the concluding episodes, are absolutely awful. Terrible. An insult to the show. Don't watch them!

Cool. Got the DVD boxset on my Amazon wishlist. Been waiting to buy it as I thought it quite likely a Bluray boxset would emerge sometime around the new series.

Me and the Mrs have been working our way through the complete series. We are currently on Tunguska from season 4.
The X-Files is my favourite to show and it's so good to be watching them all again!
We watched The Field Where I Died yesterday, that's one of my favourites.
