theHunter: Call of the Wild

yes as you new to playing you will only have a small calibre gun. so shots have to be vitals for them to go down in any sort of close range vacinity.bigger animals and a .243 and vitals will still often end in a 5/10 minute tracking expedition but as you level up your perks/skills you can unlock better tracking and it does get easier. its just part of learning the game.

also as you get the more powerful rifles you wont have to run forever if you place a vital shot.placing the shots is very important.vital shots are side on in the armpit just aften front leg area.back of head/neck.heart shots/lung shots.you can tell by the amount of blood you find.if its a bit of a drop its often a flesh wound so you gunna be tracking it for a long while.if it looks like someones spilt a bucket of red paint it should be down very close :D

with the big guns like the 7mm and the .338 rangemaster you can drop animals dead on the spot even at distance. if you interested you should look at the .338 in action on youtube :p some of the long shots are crazy and the power it has.

Nice, but i see the paid dlc has started, i thought they was not going down that route they said, as we paid full price for game, and not pay to play, a lot of people upset, especially as a tent/hide should be in a hunting game anyway, i will be putting people off buying this game if this continues, next were see paid dlc for animals to be hunted.

was a little puzzled about the dlc myself.the tents are actually very good and so are the ground blinds.

nice shot leuven

if you get a decent gun and find areas where a lot of animals are you can earn probably 30,000 in a hr.if you shoot accurately and pick your animals.

gunna have a few hrs on it later . great for chilling.

you aim for vital shots.so lungs/heart mainly but other shots will put animals down.neck/spine/back of head.you wouldnt shoot in real life head shots one because of the antlers are the prize so you wouldnt damage them.2 many animals skulls are pretty hard like moose.

side on aim just after front leg armpit/rib cage area.there is a small crease.often lung or heart or both.
front on mid chest.neck if accurate.back of head.which while not prefered is a good kill shot.

to discover places or lodges quicker. go to the look out points which are marked as binoculars on the map.i have videos for most of the stuff in the game in my first youtube signature.update it regular.

new update today for this they added a shooting range.very useful for getting the bullet drop down at range.also you can have comps with friends who play in mp. which can be a great laugh.

the map dlc is about 7 dollars on steam but if your friend or a mp person owns it you can play on thier map for free without owning the dlc.which is a nice touch.they also done that with quad bikes.

it is one of the best looking games about but also you need a high spec pc to get it looking at its best and have decent fps. its probably the highest specd game to play on pc.it is beautiful though

.338 range master is a monster.i prefer the 7mm tbh.the .338 is a little op :p

if you dont know about the gun in real life you should check it out at long range hunting videos on youtube.then you realize just how powerful it is.:D

Hiijinx you should stick that video on theHunter forums.many there played all the games made maps. linked it on my twitter so people can see it.

Been sinking hours into this again, still find myself just stopping every now and then and appreciating the beauty of it. Playing lots of medved-tiaga, loved the story missions. There's still a lot of flaws but it has improved some in the past 6 months, unfortunately still feels way too over populated though, I mean for example, small lake down in the SE corner of the map, killed 14 brown bear in 10 minutes, they were standing around in heards either side of the lake, I could lay prone with the 338 and knock them down one by one, killed 8 or 9 before the others figured something was wrong, managed to tag all the rest of them for vital hits before they could run off... The furthest any of the remaining ones got was about 200m away, also bagged 3 reindeer and a lynx on the same lake between shots on the bears, it was nothing short of a massacre...

Has there been any hints or suggestions on a new map yet? Should be due one soon?

new maps take 6-9 months to make. animals normally 3 months +.

i think there will be lots to come and the game expanded.like the original theHunter.which is cant believe im saying this 9 years old now  and still many play it. call of the wild should keep getting more content as the game grows.it is stunning.

DG you play a fair bit of this and the classic hunter.

Which one is the best these days, any reason to play the subscription one, Do both have multiplayer etc, whats the main differences etc?

Ta dude.

classic is still running strong.thats what the old theHunter is now called.loads play it in mp it is more hardcore than call of the wild.i play it daily have done for 9 years.same as call of the wild.both have mp .

Maybe wanting to avoid the bad PR that might come from having a game where you can hunt those sorts of animals, given the press lately on real life people who hunt those.

its been a very touchy subject for years.many people wanted africa in theHunter classic since it began. i played that for nearly ten years.maybe we will get that with this released just not with elephants and lions.

hunting is a very niche and tricky subject.even if its just pixels.id personally like to hunt the elephants , lions. i also know though if they added them and rhinos the flack they would get would be immense.
