theHunter: Call of the Wild

500m is the max distance at the moment.i think that must be close to the max limit of what can be done without messing with the engine.im fine with that tbh.

some pics i posted yesterday on social media.

Personally, I don't see any difference in hunting any animal for sport or fun, but to not have those animals in a computer game is a little silly. Of course it's OK to kill humans in a game though.

hunting is a very niche thing. to put it into words. theHunter classic took 5 years of making nothing until it was a success.so you really have to make the correct decisions.in niche games.by adding the 7 animals they adding there is less risk of causing drama.

animals included are

1. Scrub Hares
2. Springbok
3. Side-Striped Jackal
4. Warthogs
5. Lesser Kudu
6. Blue Wildebeest
7. Cape Buffalo

if you do the missions and go on foot you will find plenty of animals.they can be very spooky. some massive herds groups of animals can be seen sometimes. i seen groups of warthogs 30-40 , springbok 20 , so on.

i mainly still use the .243 and the 7mm 338 when i want to destroy at long range. saying that the 7mm is just as good at 400m plus.

new reserve not long now and is amazing. really is turning into a great game. lots of content to go at and different animals.

gemsbok booyaka if you can find them might be a good crack for a diamond.

take your time. visit near water areas for animals if struggling to find them. also place shots well. front armpit area side on in rib cage is lung heart. you need to hit vital areas or..spine shots. spine shots are being reworked though so soon it will be more on heart lung vital shots. you have to match the guns to your prey. loads of videos and wiki material and the steam forums are great for info. great game put the effort in.you will be rewarded.;)

same old animals ? puma is totally different and has different new behaviour.totally new deer species. different land, topography and storyline + other items. its not like any other reserves. weird. many people just dont get game development. often a new map is minimum 6 months alone to develop for many games.animals are often 3 months a piece. some things might look similar without looking in any depth but there is a lot of new great features content been added.

its a brand based on hunting. make the wrong decision you can seriously hurt the brand. you only have to look at how trophy animal hunts go on social media. its a witch hunt as soon as any dentist shoots something. which all social media gets behind.

the new reserve is great fun . currently completing the missions.

totally different. it seems logical what you saying just in reality just doesnt work that way. animals are more popular than humans. killing endangered species wont earn you any favours. you see every day on the news horrendous things around the world to do with humans. we almost numb to it. then imagine on the news some one kills a lion. utter outrage. its how we are programmed.

you have to remember also that theHunter games are pretty realistic not arcade games. with arcade games you can get away with it more. also the whole ethos behind theHunter games and what is the back bone is " ethical " . so what you are suggesting goes against everything the brand stands for. it would be fun , exciting. its just not for this game/s , brand. ethos. it has been explained before a few times by avalanche.

i understand your view. i just dont want to go on about it for the thread. its not going to happen at anypoint. so best just not waste time talking about ethics or humans vs animals vs video games. make a new thread for it.

for friday this week there is a open beta . with surprises. :D

also if anyone here follows social media for the game they have been teasing about a new animal possibly for africa. here is clue 3.
