Theories of the universe

This thread would make anybody that has studied maths or physics cry.

Big bang theory is commonly accepted as the method of creation because there is so much evidence that points to it being the case (cosmic microwave background radiation, greater redshifted galaxies further away etc).

Unfortunately, what happened before the big bang or what caused the big bang is really down to philosphy to think about, rather than physics.

Indeed as Physics came into existence as the universe was formed hence it has no bearing on how the universe came to be.

I need to lie down I've just given myself a headache:(

Yes but something must have been there to enable the big bang or perhaps the fact that there was nothing made it? maybe there can not be nothing? :D

Maybe there was nothing. Or maybe there was everything. Maybe the universe has always just existed.

It's like I said, without a comprehension of infinity, it's hard to theorise.

Interesting though.

Do you see the problem with the process? If the answer when we cut the ribbon in half is 2 pieces of equal length infinity. If we repeat the cutting an infinite amount of times we must end up with an infinite number of ribbons of equal length infinity.

:D

I am not a mathematician ;)

no, that's not true, because infinity divided by a finate number is always infinity.

whilst infinity divided by itself is always 1.

What caused the big bang likely exists in higher dimensions that we cannot perceive.
We are aware of 4 dimensions, 3 spacial dimensions and time.

If you imagine that two 3 dimensional objects could come together at a surface (2 dimensional) then two higher dimensional entities could intersect in 4 dimensions to give birth to our universe.

but that all depends if time really exists....

but all physics really is is applied maths, maths is eternal and constant, apparently.

Only If time is eternal & constant or Eternal and cyclical if time were to suddenly end it would also mean the end of everything else (unless somthing were to exist outside time if that were the case what use would it have for maths)

Now I have A bigger headache:(
