The funny thing is that it isn't even a challenge anymore in F1, the complete corner is flatout and hardly a challenge anymore.
Throw a full grid onto the track and every part of the track is a challenge.

Why don't they design tracks like spa anymore?
safety.
just playing f1 2010 gave me new respect for all F1 drivers (even bruno senna), just hitting every apex in 1 lap is hard yet they do it for 70 laps and are inch perfect every time and they have the g forces and the heat.
the are incredible drivers.
Yeah you only have to see the comparative lap times on a gp weekend to see how much faster they are. I was amazed the first time I compared the porsche supercup laptimes round barca to the F1 guys on the same weekend.
Or the laptimes to motogp or superbikes round the same circuit.
1.52 for a porsche around barca
1.42 for a moto gp bike.
1.22 for a f1 car roughly.
Amazing difference.
I'm not amazed by the speed difference, I am amazed by the difference in the driving line taken, the F1 guys just go straight through the double bend virtually in a straight line, removing the need for big steering, braking and maintaining outright speed.
Then watch all the nobbers in the first video again, its fast driving 101 surely?
I think the slight difference in camera angle changes it a little bit here. The F1 cars go so straight as they have zero body roll and amazing grip (best grip of any 4 wheel car?) a road car just can't match that, it has to take the wider line as it can't maintain the straight line of F1.
They are also possibly less inclined to take the fully kerb mounting option to get around the track, as the people driving these cars probably have to pay for there upkeep too! Plus they're on a track day having fun, not trying to get a world title out of it...
As for calling them nobbers, HA! and LOL
Would love to hear how loud it is in person. Never been to a track before.
????
Your post makes no sense.
The F1 cars have zero body roll with great grip allowing them to go fast in a straight line the other cars dont have so much grip and dont corner as well so they take wider lines to get round the corners?
The fastest way from A-B is a straight line, on any S bend if at all practicable you take the line that requires the least cornering effort and carries the highest speed, IE the straightest line.
Just look at the difference in the lines taken, they are not even close, every single F1 car goes through those bends virtually arrow straight, the cars in the second Video seem to of been to the Jeremy clarkson school of going round a corner, IE a lot of fuss and not a lot of speed.
WTF has body roll got to do with cornering speed?

in the first vid there is a focus (or similar car on the track) how can that corner as fast as an F1 car when its up on two wheels in the corners due to, oh yes, body roll...
