There's very quick.....then there's F1!

I've got a feeling pretty much everyone of those drivers in the first video will be quicker than you around that track.

Produce the evidence that I am not the fastest driver the world has ever seen.

As well as that, explain why your assertion has any bearing on the differing lines taken by the drivers in the respective videos.

I counter that with your post makes no sense?

Body roll has nothing to do with straight line speed? Where did you get that from? Grip in this respect also has nothing to do with straight line speed, we're talking about actual traction through corners here, neither track is wet for example.

The cars of lesser than F1 spec take less than a straight line through the corners as that's what physics dictates, they don't have the grip, they do have body roll hence them not being able to keep on the tight line?

And yes, they go through straight as they are riding the kerbs, they don't mind doing this, none of them exhibit anything like Jeremy Clarkson style of wagging tale and smoking tyres, your imagination has got the better of you.

Perhaps I've got the wrong end of the stick, perhaps you're trolling, perhaps a choice of words in my post confused you?

Dont go down the route of of accusations of trolling to try and divert attention from the errant nonsense you are posting.

Every article you will read, every racer you will talk to will tell you the quickest way round a corner.

The fact you are even arguing this point proves you havent got a ******* clue about driving fast.

You called all the drivers in the first video.. "nobbers"

Fair much? You are looking at two different video angles, two different days, two different type of car.

Pretty sure most if not all of the people in that first video know that you take a corner as straight as possible, You have no idea where the grip levels were on that day just as I have no idea either. There is a reason they have gone slightly wider than a F1 car. Is the only reason you can give is "They are nobbers?"

absolutely no doubt, but doing that weekend after weekend from the age of probably 6-7 probably gives them a bit of an advantage....

In truth though driving flat out is exhausting, the duration they do it over, and the consistency lap after lap is absolutely superb

This x 10.

I'm not amazed by the speed difference, I am amazed by the difference in the driving line taken, the F1 guys just go straight through the double bend virtually in a straight line, removing the need for big steering, braking and maintaining outright speed.

Then watch all the nobbers in the first video again, its fast driving 101 surely?

Easy to say from behind a keyboard, everyones an expert in that position but it's less easy when behind the wheel. Most of the cars in the first video are pretty much on the line, though carrying much less speed and such a wide range of different cars. Anyone with track experience knows about lines and on that basis knows the first video is not full of nobbers, though perhaps less skilled than the blokes in the second...perhaps.

Some difference in lines here too, bunch of nobbers aye.

Would love to hear how loud it is in person. Never been to a track before.

Very loud.

Loud enough that you can hear the pack around the whole of Spa from any point on Spa. Being sat at Pouhon and being able to listen to them start, slow for La Source, go through Eau Rouge, allong Kemmel and slow for Les Combes with the sound of 20+ V8's singing off the trees is amazing.

Its a sound unique to F1, and due to the FIA's **** new engine rules, will only be heard for 2 more years!

I don't know what some of you lot are on about but give or take a ft or two they are clearly taking the same line.

The racing line is the racing line, doesn't really vary much if it's a Focus RS or a F1 car.

The speed difference is quite simple. Light car + racing tyres + very, very low to the ground and HUGE amounts of downforce with a tiny drag coefficient = lightning quick changes in direction and the ability to go round corners as above at full throttle.

I was only hitting about 85mph indicated (so 80mph) at the top of Eau Rouge [200sx]. It was in the rain, though.

Give me the downforce of an F1 car (up to 5x times the cornering G?) and I might have been slightly less of a scaredy cat. Although the Caterham I passengered in the next day probably has less downforce and went through at about 90-95mph.

A couple of months ago, an interesting experiment showed that up very well. Greg Huttu is brilliant at iracing, but has never raced a car in real life. Perfect person for testing how much skill in a racing simulator can translate to real racing. So they put him in a real racing car (well shy of F1, but a genuine racing car) on a real track. He was very familiar with the car and track in iracing, but how well would that translate to reality? Very well - he was less than 5% down on a good, experienced racing driver with that car on that track...and he was physically incapable of continuing after 15 laps. It would have been much worse racing an F1 car.

imagine v10/v12 etc then without silly rev limits

Do you have a link to that experiment? :)

its pretty boring
he was 3 seconds slower than another guy who actually races the car,it sounds like both drivers had never driven on that track but the geek had never driven a racing car before and the other guy obviously does it a lot

Tell me about it! Before my time :(

There is a guy who runs an old arrows v12 in the uk speed hill climb championship. My god! And u get to stand 6 feet from it when doing a full bore start!
