Is it like the Shin-Etsu stuff, which needs to be warmed up prior to application to make it easier to spread?

Hairdryer for afew seconds spread. I do this with other pastes too. Very simple way of softening so it can be spread easily and in a thin layer. Also gives better coverage.

do u actually heat the whole tube/syringe or the actual paste on the ihs ?Hairdryer for afew seconds spread. I do this with other pastes too. Very simple way of softening so it can be spread easily and in a thin layer. Also gives better coverage.
Any TIM that is dense will benefit from the tube being warmed up a bit to aid in spreading, and the Kryonaut is no exception. But it spreads easier than GC Extreme I feel and that is a big thing for me since I test out coolers, blocks and so forth a lot.
I put the hydronaut stuff on my cpu and temps are pretty much the same, 72 max using realbench although the individual core temps are more even, switching from IC diamond.
CPU is 4790k @ 4.8 1.29v.
You reckon its worthwhile swapping out to hydro/kryonaut from gelid extreme for waterblocks?
I heat paste on IHS. Then also IHS is warm which further aids spreading.
