• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Thermalright LGA1700-BCF Frame Corrector.

If people are talking about it on a forum why would i not ask about the BEST place to buy it from?
Because with a post count of over 14,000 I would've thought you'd know that discussing competitors is against forums rules.

I wasn't aware that OcUK was selling them at the time as i thought it was more of a niche product.
They're not. They sell the Thermal Grizzy version, and the link you were given is the best that can be done without breaking forum rules.

So, Google Thermalright frame corrector and options will present themselves to you.

And like i said..I wasn't sure if it was a niche product or something people was selling on auction sites or what, as looking at the pics it seems like an easily machined product. I hadn't read the thread fully so I quickly asked a question. A reply of 'If you google it, you will find everything on there as we can't discuss due to competitors selling the product' would suffice, but cool job on being 'that' guy.

Don't start.

I asked you if you've used Google or not. If you want to interpret that as me being some kind of douche guy then that's your bag. And like I said, with a post count over 14K it's a safe assumption that you'd know the rules of the forum, so forgive me for not patronising you by spelling every little thing you should already know.

Your initial reply seemed like you were coming across in a sarcy way, but if that's not the case then that's cool. We don't need to trash the thread.

Im not seeing much in quality difference between the thermalright and thermalgrizzly correctors. Some serious price gouging going on by the germans.
Neither can i, however i believe the reason for the higher price for the TG one over the Thermalright one is that they are designed and manufactured on a small scale in Germany(Meaning work/money for them), the tolerances are apparently much better(Does it matter, maybe, maybe not) rather than being mass manufactured in China.

So its more of a case of do you just want something that may help with temps and is cheap or do you want something that may be designed and manufactured a little better, still does the same job but supporting local(ish) manufacturing/jobs however a significantly more expensive product.

I bought one for "peace of mind" I've constantly posted on here saying my temps were fine...
Before 63c
After 61c

With a Noctua D15 it seems a total waste of time but Noctua say their plates are convex to fit modern CPU designs anyway.

When I put the paste on I spread a thin layer covering the whole CPU, looks like pretty good contact to me with the stock retention bracket

Fitted mine today to my 12700k.
Contact patch from my AIO (Corsair h150i elite LCD) looked fine.
Max temp in Cinebench before frame fitted was 87c.
After frame fitted 87c.

Ambient temp around 28c

So, no difference. Will see what the temps under normal gaming are like later.
Very simple to install so might be worth it for some.

Thermal Grizzly one you should be precise regarding torque. The Thermalright one just don’t over tighten and you should be fine.
Decided to use Hydronaut this time.
Went for a revamp with Corsair 7000d and dual 420 x 45mm. Maximum CPU core is high 50s during 3D Mark and mid 60s on Cinebench.
Sharing the loop with the MSI 3080 SuprimX 12GB.
Side note, the new EK blocks, specially for the GPU are pretty good. Very solid and no doubt if all is secured as it should.
