They are Billions - RTS meets Zombie Hordes !

same as half way through when you move to stone, get rid of all your saw mills... the only real reason to save them is to sell your wood through the marketplace if you get really desperate for gold / stone / iron through the endgame
 
Or just power them down. It's what I do. I always seem to find myself needing wood. Mind you, I always seem to find myself needing something . Was so short of gold last round that I swore I went into negative at one point.
 
Managed to clear the first map. Finally. Trick was to load up the choke points with as many Thanatos' as your oil production can handle, triple the wall defenses, bone up the (many) towers with veteran snipers, 2 x executors per choke, demolish anything that's not protected upon finally attack and pray it goes well.
 
Got to Day 70. Seemed. A much bigger horde but I hadn’t cleared the map and well let’s just say it taught me some valuable lessons. Restarted and am now at Day 20 and already far ahead of myself compared to my last run.

Only problem is a village of Doom a few feet from my command centre.
 
Second map is a tough one. No real choke points, always seem to be surrounded by Doom villages from all sides. Will need an early round strategy rethink
 
i got to day 100... but realised that the zombie hordes don't come from anywhere specific on the map... but come from off the edges

me thinking i was safe, built happily to an edge then fortified around it to secure everything

huge mistake... massive horde came right through the edge, no defences in place... it was a massacre :o

Struggling big time with this. Think day 50 has been my best so far with 60% completion rating.

Always seem to have 2 villages one each side so no space to build, slowly work my way up to 20/30 rangers and hope that i get a good mayor bonus, start clearing one village and the second i move out
I get raped from the opposite side.
 
finally beat the first map... oh god, that final push was such a nerve wrecking moment lol

my defences were strong... maybe a bit overkill, but strong... you [CENSORED] aren't getting in!!!

The second map you need a decent RNG on the map layout. Last night I managed to get a good map, decent resources straight off the bat but screwed it up by leaving a small area undefended which got overrun. Think I had 30+ veteran snipers just going round mowing down anything that moved, couldn't get them back to base fast enough and that was the end of it.

Can't let your guard down for a second in this game.
 
Got to day 88 on my best attempt on the first map and got absolutely battered on the horde wave that came with it. I didn’t realise it had split in two and hit me from both sides. Quickly got overwhelmed even with multiple layered walls. Need a rethink for the next time

Man you look like you got nice map RNG right there. Wish I got so lucky :(
 
Managed to get through wave (day 70)

Buoyed by my victory I sent my snipers into a village of doom. They destroyed it but at what cost!

I lost nearly all of them and now I face wave 80 with no troops!!!

Wood from trees
Food from hunters in trees / grassland
Food from fishing in lakes
Stone from quarry
Iron from quarry
Oil from oil well

thats pretty much everything

Farms go on grassland for food if you count that as well though

then you can get advanced quarry's for extra mining later on... but they're expensive to buy and use oil as well, same as advanced farms... they produce a lot of resources though
