Things we got for Christmas

Wow Christmas is not what i expected, seems like a lot of waste and greed.

I thought it was Church, a few gifts for the kids, enjoying family company and helping the poor.

Isnt this a time to think about the poor, people less fortuanate. Appears a lot of folk are just interested in swapping gifts with each other, with no meaning what so ever.

On Eid last year every single adult had to give £80-£100 each to charity for food or buy a lamb personally and share it out to the poor. Even on little Eid we have to fast for 30 days prior, so we know how it feels for the poor with no to little food.

The meaning is to enjoy spending time with friends and family, including giving them gifts if you choose to do so.

Also, you can't claim moral superiority about giving to charity when you say you "had to give". Doing something because you have to, and not because you choose to do so carries no weight at all.

Well you dont have to if you dont want to, but its an obligation for every adult muslim.

Wasnt trying to bash, just remember Christmas from my child hood, when people use to go down to holmeless shelters and hand out cups of tea, food and give them a nights shelter.

Just so different today.

I'm sure some people do, however remember that you're posting in a thread that was specifically about what people received for christmas, so don't expect to see people posting much about things other than that.

Bloody hell. Moany lot coming in here. Let people enjoy their Christmas' for goodness sake!

Nice haul, all.

Alas, this is the "Things we got for Christmas" thread.

The "Just went round the homeless shelters handing out cups of tea" thread is here.

Just noticed this - prepare for family feuds over who is cheating lasting hours upon hours. Also get ready for the inevitable expansion sets for this game and even more feuding. Lastly forget time - once you get in, you don't get out.

True story...

I got some fancy melon liqueur I can't remember the name of, lots of mixed sweets and Christmas cakes/biscuits from the German market (I'm probably gonna put on those 10 pounds I lost by the new year), and an Assassin's Creed Brotherhood canvas, which is awesome :D

Also monies, for the buyings.

Is it? Daily Fail's favourite bash target begs to differ: pret.com

Unlike the obligation placed on all adult muslims celebrating Eid, nobody forced (or placed an obligation upon them to use your terms) pret and its customers to donate. Anyway, this isn't the thread for such disputes (or Bhavv's pointless drivel), so let's move on.

For Christmas I've had a good hangover...

Also, load of "Eddie Stobart" stuff - key rings, mugs and a t-shirt with my own truck on it.....

FFS! I work for them, somehow my family seems to think this means I love them! my cousin even got me the TV Series DVD box set! (I suppose he does not quite appreciate that I know the "as NOT seen on TV" side of ESL a tad batter?

I'll be glad when I leave in January, perhaps for my birthday I won't get something job related! :o :D

Don't suppose your watching the Eddie Stobart Christmas Delivery doc on 5 are you?

Its a shame, Christmas isnt what it once used to be.

Not being critical here dude and a genuine question/observation. I thought that's what Boxing Day was for. Traditionally the 'rich' gave up a box on the 26th for the poor. :s
