Think you can hide on Farcebook? Not any more.

First of all you must have Strict Filtering on, set all photos to friends only, surprizing on how many people leave all their pics to public.

Surely if you hide everything all they will see is your name? What's the problem anyway apart from some paranoid personality problems?

Don't flatter yourself.

Complete non issue. Those who value their privacy don't use social media. Those who don't do.

It's pretty simple really! I for one absolutely hate social media and choose not to use it. People who use it and whine are just annoying tbh.

Social media to me means being social to people I know, not to strangers I didn't invite, Lysander has a sort-of point.
Social media only has a bad name because companies keep exploiting the lack of control over privacy.

I thought I set everything on mine to private but people still look me up :(

Some people are extremely private and don't want to even be seen by those they don't want to see them. That's not you? Don't mind? That's fine. Some of us do.

Yes, they can.

I've just viewed my profile "as public". In spite of activating as many privacy functions as I can, there is still information people can see about me that I don't know how to get rid of.

You obviously don't know how to use Facebook and maybe it is a good idea that you stay away.

So why the hell are you on here?

So why the hell are you on here?

Yep, never ceases to amaze me - people are worried about what the government watches and what Facebook does then they'll come on here and tell people exactly what TV they watch, what films, what music, what their political ideology is, their views on all sorts of things, etc. One trawl of this site and most peoples posts and you could get a complete profile and guess most of their future moves.

I can only echo both Azza and Mrs Seabiscuit. If you can't work out the facebook settings, then don't use facebook.

I always find it funny when people complain about being able to be found on sites such as Facebook, Twitter etc.

They're SOCIAL NETWORKING sites. Completely hiding your profile on these sites is the equivalent of going to a party and hiding under the coats in the cupboard under the stairs.

Anyone who values privacy shouldn't really plaster images of themselves over the internet on social networking sites, regardless of the settings, rules etc.

Your email address is leaking some information. Give the password reset facility a shot and you'll see what I mean.

So why the hell are you on here?

If you can't see the difference between an anonymous Online Forum and intrusive Social Media sites then I feel there's little hope of me being able to explain it to you in a simple enough way for you to understand.

So why the hell are you on here?

Last time I looked I didn't see any photos of what I had for lunch or my latest gym status. Social media takes the personal touch away from keeping in contact with people you actually know - forums are a bunch of randomers. Forums aren't Facebook - I know you have a habit of telling people your life story on here but 99% of people don't.

Today I went out with mates for lunch and one mate wouldn't leave the table until he had taken a photo of his empty plate, messed about with Instagram settings to change its colour, upload it then check into FB... Seriously?

So a stalker will now be able to "find me" and see my name AND a picture of a nyan cat or stupid wallpaper of the week?

Ok i can live with that...

I don't post on there anyway just use it to message my family who live in notts.

I doubt anyone really cares what I have been upto
