Some MF gazumped us on that house, which is a pain in the rear. At the same time, it is what it is and we're still on the lookout. We wouldn't have gone up in what we'd have paid for it anyway, so you know. Still a pain though.
Sorry to hear that! Some MF gazumped us on that house, which is a pain in the rear. At the same time, it is what it is and we're still on the lookout. We wouldn't have gone up in what we'd have paid for it anyway, so you know. Still a pain though.
That's ****. So the process over there is just as awful as here? Some MF gazumped us on that house, which is a pain in the rear. At the same time, it is what it is and we're still on the lookout. We wouldn't have gone up in what we'd have paid for it anyway, so you know. Still a pain though.
2.5 weeks till last day. Forms signed to authorise ordering of my home IT equipment. Hotel booked and expenses/mileage forms provided for first two weeks training down south. First time getting to go away for more than a day fully on expenses
First handover meeting with head of department, reaffirmed my decision to leave is correct
Lodger moved in on Sunday so first months rent plus deposit in the bank.
Oh and because I'm working right up to the end I'll be getting paid for 13.5 days holiday too. Winner.
Got a few things to pay off from the house renovations last year but should be able to clear that in a few months then on to looking at buying a second property in Autumn when I can re-mortgage to pull some equity out.
Nope. Its not an assured shorthold tenancyIs the deposit for lodgers not required to be held with something like the DPS like with usual rentals?
Just had a short 6 week extension to my current contract come through, taking me up to 18th April. I've signed it but still thinking about moving on, only 2 weeks notice in the extension which isn't a problem!
There was a few weeks ago, it's dried up a bit however I've reached out to some recruiters already to see if they can find anything a bit more interesting!Much around?
Qualified solicitor (4 years PQE) working in commercial property. There is pretty much an endless suite of things to learn in that field and I continue to learn (somewhat akin to being thrown into the operating theatre and being told ‘don’t mess up but also do it as quickly as possible, thanks’). I think I’m well liked and it’s far from terrible (I don’t think I’d want to change employer in the legal world) and I even enjoy applying the subject matter and making myself feel clever.... I just don’t really want to exhaust myself in life making millionaires even richer. As arrogant as it sounds it feels like a waste of energy / capabilities, pushing people that hard for these outcomes. Pretty much everyone the same age feels the same in my line of work. Climbing to the top of the ladder is like just too much of a sacrifice (I don’t want to spend all my evenings networking and schmoozing) and it’s all so involved it becomes somewhat inescapable because of, admittedly, the pay, and because you feel emotionally responsible for ensuring the ship doesn’t sink / you don’t let others down. Think one of my superiors is on an 18 month notice period! What's your current role and level of experience?
