This Business and Moment...

HR departments never fail to make what should be simple infinitely more complex.
Yea, seems it's company politics as well which is a killer at the moment. So much justification required to hire, as they have let some people go, so need to be politically astute. Pain in my arse though! Now it's just this weird limbo **** as well, and I can't tell anyone at work about it lol it's all a bit odd.

Got told last night, it had been signed off by the CFO & CIO and just needs to pass through the CEO now. Final approval and I should get an offer. I am hoping it will be this week... and I'm hoping it'll be an OK offer lol

I know it'll be less than I'm on now, but I don't know how much. My contract rate isn't that good at the moment (it's not at all bad, don't get me wrong, but has gone down about 20-25% in the last 5 years) and this role is a few steps up the org chart than this current role, so I'm hoping that evens it out a bit. Also, 15% yearly bonus, 8% employee pension contributions, decent holiday pay etc.

Anyway, hopefully it won't take all week to pass through his desk and I can have some closure on all this.

Good news. Surprisingly quick considering the hoops that needed to be jumped through.
Thanks! Got the figures and formal offer notice today which I was prepared to be disappointed with but it was actually higher than my expectations, which I'm mega happy about! I formally accepted and notified my manager too... want me to start 1st August.

Moved up the pay scale as well. Around £250 better off per month when taking into account the pay scale and lack of fuel expenditure.

That's wicked news! Better work life balance hopefully being closer and more scope to have your input, plus better off! Win win!

Wow, package was actually an uplift on your day rate? Congratulations dude, you still going to keep doing all the app stuff on the side?

Yea, still working on emotuit and cheezus! I had to sign their conflict of interest stuff and everything! Ha

Yep, I know, my rate was getting hammered and was coming in about 160k EUR a year, no holiday or anything, pension was about 5% (legal requirement here). They offered 150k EUR basic, with salary review next year, 15% annual bonus, 8% pension contribution (currently, sliding scale up as you get older), with 6% my contribution and 25days holiday, 5 bridging days and flexi time to earn more time off...! Can't really be too upset with that.

A year on since I got the offer letter for my current job. I've been told by our site lead that my promotion has been approved and will be applied this time next month when I hit the 1 year mark.
Just awaiting for HR to send me their proposed package.
Wow that's some time but hell, it's happening which is wicked.

Just got my contract officially through and signed. Now I am supposed to be in my new role by 1st August, but my current boss is trying to make me continue to do my old role for some time after that to help... I really don't want to do that and don't think my new boss will be massively up for it, as it will take time away from me working on new things. Ah company politics will be fun...

I guess any advice to others unsure about their career paths etc, many people will almost certainly have built up the skills needed for their ideal roles but may not realise it. A lot of skills are transferable between sectors even if the task they helped completed were totally different, the methodology is sill the same. Consider those sorts of aspects of your current role and see how it could fit in to a new role you're looking at and then market that as your USP in an application!
Totally agree with this. I think a lot of people now days move and change sectors/careers/paths way more than people did in the past. All experience is good experience... well... haha

Hoping this should pick up, and we're seeing somewhat increased activity, but it's going to be a slow burn. Not helped by my house renovations burning through cash at a painful and alarming rate!
Ah mate, hope things ease a bit and you can fire through it all. I'm sure you will do it!! Keep it up man!

He's just messaged to say he's finished, so it's taken him about 3 hours, it took me about 40 minutes to do mine. I then checked and he's done them all wrong so i need to redo them all anyway.

I've been teaching this older dude to take over from me the last few weeks. I have the easiest stuff to do, honestly, for ages now I've been thinking this contract is just a joke it's so easy. He has tried numerous times to do this stuff. I've done screenshares, walked him through it 3 times... still can't work it out.

Everyone needs discounted missiles :p
Haha share the love! You could be an international arms dealer like on war dogs! Nothing could go wrong @mrk

Did my onboarding today and yesterday, which was pretty useless as I have been here longer than most the people giving the trainings but hey! Did it. At the same time they were taking people through how to order chemicals using sciquest, which is an app I look after in my old role, and sending things using TraMS, which is another I looked after... so great use of my time!
I'm now stuck with this weird role of expecting me to do both roles... I have told both old and new manager that I need a plan for the handover and needs to be a clear cut off date, but I think current manager is going to try and make me long this out as long as possible. Which means I'm going to have to give someone **** and likely it'll be her. I think she's a bit put out my new role is above her and seems to be being a bit funny with it. Love a bit of politics!

Nice one @Rroff I am not sure many people will get one this year so that's pretty damn good.

I've already wracked up about 2 weeks in flexitime on the new job, coupled with the 10days holiday I have, I think I'm going to take all of December off. Sounds like a plan to me lol
