This Business and Moment...

I think around stuff like this, it really is a rollercoaster of emotions. I'm up and down daily. You think you're there, you think you're way off... you think you've caught a break, next day you feel bottom again. Job searching is the same, it's so taxing on the emotions. Great place here to vent and people aren't bad either :p

Job searching is really tiresome and stressful. More so that I remember it being. It's worse when they don't get back to you, or give you feedback.

This, SO MUCH. If I haven't got the job, that is fine. But have the decency and balls to tell me I haven't and why not!

The worst thing is not knowing!

Woooo got a phone interview on Friday!

Best of luck! I would say be yourself but I've met you, so.... :p

Current state of affairs -

I have around 5 days left with my current employer. I have a number of potential opportunities lined up.

The first is another perm role - Not ideal as my plan was to go into contracting. However, I'm now considering taking on one more perm role. I've been invited for a second interview and the money is decent.

The second is a contractor role. The potential client wants me. Problem is that the client is a UK government organisation. As a result they need to do background checks. Which could take up to 6 weeks! I've since informed them that I will not hesitate to accept other offers.

I'm dont feel under too much pressure to find anything yet. I've been lucky enough to be doing some contract work on the side (during my free time) over the last few months. And have managed to save a considerable amount. As things stand, I figure I can go without work for around 2 months max.

Ideally I wouldnt mind three or so weeks to myself to do sod all lol.

Other than that I'm in talks with a number of other agents. Waiting to see whether new projects pop up.

well after speaking to the wife she has already bombarded me with jobs to apply for.
one that peaks my eye is a similar job to what i do now at what i believe will be AWE. it only states nuclear project, but they have 20 openings
higher pay, but only for initially 9months.

so i know what i'll be doing tonight when i get home :D:o

Are these jobs based down sarf? :D

Went to Cornwall once. Lovely place!

no it's based in burghfield that's literally 15minutes from me. compared to an hour drive i currently do. :)

forgot to add: it seems MoD is recruiting heavily in my area as well, shame i don't have a british passport (should probably get one) :(

I'm now running my Dept after my boss left. They have gapped his post as we are undergoing a major organisational restructure soon.

Yet they are still expecting me to cover his workload. I think it's time I spoke with the senior chaps and ask for at least a temporary promotion/salary.

* MoD, Home Office & FCO are on a huge recruitment drive at the moment, internal applications are expected to be allowed outside of the organisation for non CS soon as the demand outweighs the responses.

Had an interview last week.

I managed to secure an NQT year at a school 3 miles away.
I was up against 4 other experienced teachers too!

yeah MoD has lots of vacancies for the Reading area.

So I just got a phone call, and.....

I GOT THE JOB :D

....however, I cannot celebrate just yet. Microsoft need to get a headcount increase confirmation first. So it's a "confirmation you have been selected but don't give you notice in just yet"

aarrrrrggghhhh :p

Just a little bit of red tape and more waiting from me. Gives me a chance to laminate/frame my letter of resignation for my manager however :p :D

Had to post here to stop myself exploding at work :D

Excellent news!! Very happy for you!

I've just been given a load of crappy work to do again, ANOTHER move around for our legal team, this makes the 8th in 6 months. There's only 16 people in there for christ sake!! Plus 2 new people coming that I need to get setup and ready, which isn't a problem but I've no office accounts for them, no spare hardware and a general NO attitude to spending money.

And on the bright side, they are bringing a lad back who is nothing but a complete ****wit. Angry all the time, causing conflict and I'd rather be around a bunch of teenies with really bad periods all at the same time than deal with this lad. Doesn't matter he causes conflict, destroys morale because he makes money (at the expense of everyone around him).

Been contacted about a Software Installation Engineer position in Shrewsbury - £18k - £19k

Money is a little more than I am on but it'd be eaten up with travel costs + a 13 minute walking commute to an hour + being on the road by the sounds of it. But, server experience + SQL server experience..half tempted just to escape but it may be a frying pan/fire situation.

Great news! Im hoping it all goes well and doesn't fall down now. Not to be a pessimistic **** lol I just really think you deserve the job and want it to work out! :D

Got everything crossed you hear soon, but massive congratulations for getting it!
