This Business and Moment...

Been a really good week for starting to make contacts. We should now have 3 advisers on board... just need to confirm it all. I have been speaking with LinkedIn yesterday as well, a friend of a friend put me in touch with someone, so we're in the process of seeing how we can get Path as a part of what they do. There are some great opportunities there.
Loads of great meetings and some that made me think about certain aspects of what we do and our plans to scale, which were equally as good. I have a lot of documentation to do now... I hate this part, but hey. Then hopefully we'll have our branding stuff back from another friend, which we can get everything up and running properly.

Emotuit had a good week too. I have a couple of meetings scheduled next week with unis, which is great.

Another phone interview today for this Head of Building Capability Digital Transformation and Analytics role, only 2 more after this one... why are there so many interviews?!

Jan has been and gone in no time.

Is your business idea to do with education and schools? Sorry I've not really got the handle of it but it sounds like you are heading in the right direction. If you have any contacts in the UK (or if you're around this weekend) the Bett show is on in London which could be a potentially great networking opportunity?

I have 2... both in that kinda area... emotuit does engagement analytics for online learning content using facial expression recognition. We integrate with learning management systems. I've gone backwards a bit on this, I scaled too much (or tried) with expensive infra and marketing and deals are slow with unis. Very slow. Cost me personally lots and lots. And lots. We're working with a couple of unis at the moment to create some compelling data stories to start a fundraising round.

Path is blockchain CV, where schools, unis, companies issue certs to your "Path" which gives you an irrefutable verified CV. Companies can run background checks on your experience for a fee. That fee is presented in USD/GBP and exchanged for PathCoin in the background. That is then split between the Path owner, Us, and the companies/ unis who have issued data to that users Path. Meaning it creates an incentive for companies and educational institutions to issue certificates, generating a passive income.
We're working on APIs so that these places can automatically issue these, without having to add an extra process to their normal.

Snowballed a lot lately, I was talking to LinkedIn yesterday, I'm talking to Facebook, Apple and Glassdoor as well at the moment. Any one of those would be a phenomenal partner.

I've been invited to BETT a few times. I couldn't make this one as I've been so busy and having done conference marketing the cost vs. pay back is a varied. My network is more cost effective at the moment ha but that's after a few years of hammering these events @skaif

Wow they both sound awesome! Really intuitive ideas too and fit in with whats needed in the education and employment system today. Kind of bridges the gap between the 2 I suppose.

Best of luck with it :D

Cheers :)
I’m not sure on what capacity currently, I want to research into it more and see what paths are available.

Just to note they will start requiring a Degree, ok if you have one but someone like me just scraping the barrel at A level results soon closes the door.

As far as I can tell the Met is the 'easiest' to get into, as in once you have passed the assessment centre you are straight in, whilst other forces require additional interviews.

A friend of mine went the Met direction then after 2 years probation was up transferred back to another force closer to home.

You can do it without mentioning hobbies. I'm not so sure people want to know what you get up to on a weekend ;) unless it's making them money and you are flexible.
I disagree. They want to see you have something about you. I'd never hire someone who doesn't have a bit of character and some special achievements outside of work.

You're right in the sense of not just listing 'I like cross stitch', but to think that good employers don't care about hobbies is not accurate IMO

So list hobbies or not list hobbies?

Within reason no harm listing hobbies - most employers like to have some kind of overall picture of you as a person which that can help with.

I'd never hire someone who doesn't have a bit of character and some special achievements outside of work.

Some of the hardest workers are relatively lacking in outward character and might have no desire to pursue "special" achievements that mean anything to anyone but themselves. Depending a bit on the job that might be more or less suited - generally you want someone a bit more outgoing for customer or client facing roles, etc. heh. I've found a lot of people treat them right and they tend to open up over time. Sadly there are a few though you give a chance to and they abuse it :(
