This Business and Moment...

If it makes you feel better I'm on nearly 17k and I'm 33...I'm looking too.

I say it like 23k isn't a lot, it will be to some obviously so it wasn't meant like that if it came across that way.

As a joint income we just need more now, wife runs her own business but it's not bringing in a lot atm so I need to change my income to compensate

Don't worry I didn't take it as insulting.

I did get some good news today. It turns out that whilst on my temporary assignment, I was supposed to be given a 10% salary increase. For whatever reason, this never happened.
Now it has been sorted out, and I'll be backpaid from when I started my assignment in June 2016 which is nice!

I'm sure we have a few people here who work in Agile teams....

Anyone have any recommended resources, courses, qualifications etc for Product Owners?

I'd be interested in this too. I've been doing a PO role for the last 18 months after many years in consulting, and whilst I think I know my way around the role (and both Aha! and Jira) pretty well now, it would be good to pick up some relevant qualifications - particularly in case I ever want/need to change employer.

Didn't get offered the insurance role, not a major set back so not overly fussed.

Waiting for a response from the other job, closing date was last Friday

Woop! Been short listed, happy days.

Organising a phone interview for next week :)

Nice!

Well done everyone on the good news lately :)

I'm waiting on timing to put my application in for the new team. Should start the process in the next couple of weeks. Maybe it'll all be done and dusted by the end of the year (if I am successful) - so let's see!

Argh, i hate having that discussion with your boss when you say you want to leave. I absolutely hate confrontation/awkwardness, now he's gone away to discuss things with his boss to see what they can do to try and change my mind. So i have to then have further discussions!

It's not that i dislike my job and there is a lot that i enjoy. It's also not as if i went looking for other jobs actively. I was contacted about a single and went for the interview which i got. But ultimately there's a reason i went for the interview and it wouldn't be fair to accept any change only to go through this again in 6 months.

When I was interviewing for jobs at the start of the year, one of the recruiters sent me a list of reasons not to accept counter offers. I'll try to find it but I remember one being that if you wanted to leave, does more money suddenly remove all of them?

Actually giving my notice was probably the most stressful thing I've ever had to do. First time I ever had to give notice.

Well, one of the main reasons for moving was because of a few things i didn't get from my current role. Mainly exposure to the wider business along with a few other things. I've since had the second conversation to my boss with a plan of how my role can progress which were things he was planning to implement come appraisal time.

There's a bit of change within the team with a new staff member coming in around January time (the current team is woefully understaffed so boring general stuff lands on myself and my boss), the plan is to offload these tasks onto the new staff member, freeing me up to do more value added stuff.

I've agreed to see how things go and said i'd give it 6 months so see if the role moves as expected, and if i still feel the itch then at least i've given it a shot. Money was never really a factor but it will see me get a reasonable increase (£33k > £39k with better benefits by staying (Better pension, health and bonus)). Plus as much as it shouldn't be a factor, by leaving now i'd be leaving my boss is a really crap situation having to take on the extra workload. 6 months gives the new person time to bed in.

If i feel it's not enough in 6 months time then i've not lost out on anything and the extra bits of experience will stand me in a better position. Along with a higher salary to expect progression from.

Phone interview was today, went well I believe as they invited me in for the face to face next week.

Just got to get my confidence up and sell myself, which I'm terrible at

Counter offers are not the friend of recruiters, remember that!

Seems to be here right now. I'm hangry and annoyed :p

If it makes you feel better the leftovers i got out the freezer this morning wasn't what i was expecting and was something that was pretty grim when i first cooked it. Having let it defrost and then reheat it ended up being a foul tasting gloopy mess of noodles and chicken. I couldn't even eat it so now i'm starving.

This is why i used to keep emergency noodles at work!

I managed to walk to the station this morning and onto the train with my backpack completely unzipped, soaking the inside :p

Fortunately no electronics in it, as I am lazy during the week and leave my laptop on my desk :D
