This Forum. Why so basic?

I prefer it to most other forums. A lot simpler to use and easier on the eyes. Sometimes you don't need a lot of functionality to make something awesome!

One of the things I like about this forum is the simplicity, there's not much clutter and the rules are intended to be as clear as possible having been tested through a number of years in most cases.

It's just the irony that a forum for somewhere technological is so basic :p

Although I like it like this, I can also appreciate the irony too :D

I'm a member of many forums and this is one of the biggest yet most basic i've seen. The default blue which which is just vile and if i'm not mistaken, the only way to change it is to user a browser plugin, then you've got no private message system, no custom avatar choice, no extra smilies and the biggest one for me is the no simple way to embed a youtube video. (yes i do know how but what a load of faffing about)

So why is a computer forum that specialises in high end computers and have tens of 1000's of members have the most basic forum out there?

Embedding a youtube video takes like 5 seconds... That's not faffing about....

Also, I like the default blue, and, the trust system works just as well as any other system!

I would echo the thoughts of many others here. I would absolutely hate it if the forum rules were relaxed and the whole place would look like a jumbled mess! Keep the avatars, they are nice and neat and have a nice little heirachy about them. The signature size is good too, keeps everything uniform and clear.

Don't change a thing OcUK! But he has a point about the blue!! :D

I generally disable sigs/avatars on forums that have them unless they have tight restrictions on size/animation.

What I like about this forum is the content. Whilst I may not post often I do read the forums a lot. All the things mentioned are just pointless fluff that gets in the way.

I like the simplicity and ease of using the forum.

Like the idea of no stupid large sigs, custom avatar would be nice, part form that why fix if it ain't broke.

That's the thing. If you hate it it doesn't matter as it can be invisible. If you like it then it's a great feature that's missing
