This Forum. Why so basic?

Uniform, Tidy and the things you listed are V easy to do.

So why is a computer forum member so adverse to a few bits of coding? (even if you can justfiy callign it that lol)
 
Cant stand forums that allow any sig/avatar infact i tend to addblock+ a lot of signatures on other forums as they take up half a page.
Anyone remember when the custom avatar were allowed briefly on here? it looked a mess.

These forums have structure and it works very well, the fact that its been running very healthy for the last 10+years shows testament to that.
 
Its quality of content that counts. Also these forums are so clean and tidy compared to many others which are so customisable as you say.
 
I do agree that i myself disable sigs and avatars to keep it cleaner but i do stand by my opinion that members should be given the choice if they want all the extras. The main things i would like would be the youtube button in the reply box or better still, make it so the embed button on the youtube site works on this forum. When i first started using other forums, i could just copy/paste a youtube embed code straight into a forum reply box and it would show instead of having to copy/paste half a code making sure you don't miss 1 character out or it won't work.

Also, going elsewhere or creating my own forum isn't the answer. I don't want to, i like it here, i'm just asking that's all. No need to become so defensive.

so you want a feature added, you wouldn't use yourself but think others should be able to use, that other users didn't request?
 
I must admit for the size and popularity of this forum I sometimes expect/want more. I would like to see a PM system and forum themes to have a more silver/grey/black possible theme. Would also like it to work in Chrome without the avatar user area being too wide and mucking up the layout. Anyone know what I mean and know how to fix that?

EDIT: I also run all forums with avatars and sigs off so that doesn't matter to me at all. I hate them on.
